i think nuclear plants are governed by some international place.
they have sensors hooked up to all stations around the world and monitor them at all times.

I only invested in powerbank and backup power for router (even though its becoming pointless if the network itself is down when loadshedding hits). I dont mind forced candle light dinners. as long as phone and wifi remain up and running

Basically Cape Town & the Western Cape is a major tourist destination in SA. I am too lazy to check how much income tourism generates but I assume it is significant.

Gauteng is the economic hub of SA & I guess the other areas play a role in being ports of entry for goods etc.

Right so it was Stage 1 yesterday, which means we were short of 1000MW of supply.
Now someone tripped over a unit at Koeberg and we lose an additional 930MW of supply.
That escalates rolling blackouts to Stage 4, so a 4000MW shortage in the supply.

1000MW + 930MW = 1930MW, how do they jump to 4000MW needing to be cut?

It must be bad. I normally don't notice loadshedding (solar PV) but half an hour ago all internet connections went down here in the Little Karoo - both DSL and LTE. LTE is back up but the DSL line is still down.

Also, obviously there are still good people at Eskom trying their best, but Eskom management... should be tried.

OpenServe Fibre seems to hold up well during loadshedding (and I too have router backup power), but I do fear that this won't last.

Hopefully we can get SpaceX Starlink by then.
