Eskom starts load shedding

Cape Town - Eskom has started with its load shedding on Thursday morning and it will most likely continue until 22:00 on Thursday evening, according to spokesperson Andrew Etzinger.

He said the load shedding schedule is available on the Eskom website at eskom.co.za load shedding or people can call the Eskom call centre on 08600 37566.

Johannesburg - Eskom has started power cuts on Thursday, a spokesman confirmed.

“There will be load shedding in different suburbs across the country,” said Eskom spokesman Andrew Etzinger.

He said it was likely to continue until 10pm.

Municipalities were informed of the need to reduce electricity and they would decide in which suburbs to cut power.

Etzinger could not say if power cuts would affect the Oscar Pistorius murder trial in the High Court in Pretoria. He said the Tshwane municipality would be in a better position to comment on that.

Earlier on Thursday, Etzinger said seven days of heavy rain had left coal stocks wet.

“We have asked our large industrial customers, to reduce their consumption by 10 percent, but it appears this will not be enough,” Etzinger said. - Sapa

Yep, currently sitting without power in Melrose. Unfortunately we have generators so no reprieve from work...

Power just went out in Jacobs/Mobeni area in Durban
 
At work (Bryanston) no power
At Home (Roodepoort) no power
At wife's work (far west rand) no power

Damn idiots!
Taking an inverter home with me tonight... haven't got time for the cANCer's crap!
 
Loadshedding schedule, searched a number of suburbs in Durban, no schedule, just says amount to be shed mon to fri between 0800-2200.

No schedule.

Eskom is on the blink, Telkom is on the blink, Government is on the blink....

Just got notice that power will be off here DAILY between 2:00 to 4:00, 10:00 to 12:30 and 18:00 to 20:30 until the 1st of April.

Why do they not just turn it off and get it over with. Thanks Eskom for giving the term 'Dark Africa' new meaning.....
