Eskom strike on the cards

as mod I'm probably not allowed to post a parody of "Old McDonald had a farm"... but gonna give it a shot...

Sung to the tune of Old McDonald had a farm said:
Old Zuma had a country,
Ee-i-ee-i-o,
And in his country he had a lot of workers,
Ee-i-ee-i-o,
With a strike-strike here,
And a strike-strike there,
Here a strike, there a strike ,
Everywhere a strike-strike,
Old Zuma had a country,
Ee-i-ee-i-o.

I'm getting gautvol of these strikes.... *sigh*

I went to return something at game yesterday and one till was open when i asked why they said : Industrial action.

So the labour have the country by the balls.

It's going to be very interesting how Zuma is going to handle all these...

Funny how the rest of the rational workers in the private sector get 5% increase and we have to live with it or go elsewhere for a job. We don't have the power to bring the country to its knees.

Striking should be built into our national anthem or and made part of our unique national heritage. Its just something we do from month to month (or is it week to week)? Heck, why don't we just create another public holiday every month and call it Strike Day and get it over with.

Forgive my ignorance on the subject but could an Eskom strike not pose some serious environmental risks for a place like Koeberg and the surrounding 1000km?

People who make a difference at koeberg are not the ones striking

hrm.. at this rate maybe the ministers should also go on strike :p

This is slighlty off topic but... if Telkom went on strike, would anybody notice? :p

LOL!! They are on strike pauld.

Anyways, why can't they just not go to work as their protest ? Instead of inconveniencing me? As already mentioned, if we aren't happy with our pay in the private sector, tough, deal with it or move on!! Loads of people in the private sector got much less than inflation this year, and I have a feeling it will be the same next year.

Couldnt we get all the groups that want to strike, strike on the same day and all those not striking can treat it was a public holiday, it would almost be like a win/win.

Very true! Maggie pwned the unions!

With all the strikes and riots etc. going on currently, is there actually any control left in this country? :(

The problem here is that the protesters are often drunk, and they can work each other up to such a tribal frenzy that they start plundering, looting, burning buildings and cars... No peaceful protests here...
