Eskom's Koeberg problems persist

Chernobyl 2 : Cape flats edition
If like Chernobyl, then we're fine.

Do your own research about the real impact of Chernobyl's RBMK-1000 No 4 meltdown in 1986. None of the four reactors had containment structures of any sort, whereas Koeberg has a pressure containment vessel. Not many people realise that the other three Chernobyl reactors right next-door continued running normally for some years after the No 4 meltdown, with no discernible effect on the hundreds of workers who went their daily. There are several thousand people that refused to evacuate, and who lived and continue to live normal peasant farming lives in the evacuated area, again with no measurable effect. My own suspicion is that the anti-nuclear-power loons in Western Europe and elsewhere pressured the Soviets to evacuate a massive area because this played nicely into their anti-nuclear alarmism.

There are valid criticisms of what is going on at Koeberg at the moment that do not require referencing anti-nuclear activist echo chambers.

Afaik they hired some highly qualified plant operators from Ukraine to make up the staff shortage.
No worries.

It ran till 2000,was still providing 70% EAF as well.
You're correct those other were only shutdown due to international pressure.

No containment building? What were these idiots planning to do with the contaminated parts?

Throw it out back?
The BBBBEEE tenda did not go to a cadre, so nothing was built. Chances is that they would have put up a wooden shack and store the radiated boilers in them for a couple of billion Rands.
