Your bashing of renewables is really annoying (yes, we've heard it from you a million times, base load blah blah blah). Here are the simple facts:

We know renewables won't END load shedding, but they will help, even if it only means when the wind blows or the sun shines. Yes, renewables add instability, but managing that instability is better than literally having no power.

Yes, the technology exists (assuming the government actually wanted to fix things and things were well run):

Over time, as battery storage tech ramps up and becomes more affordable, renewables will eventually replace other sources of energy and can be built much quicker than gas/nuclear, and yes, coal (which no-one wants to fund any more) as a way to provide baseload energy.

So for now, even if it means managing intermittent power, that is better than literally, having, nothing, to support the grid.

*Again, all dependent on a competent government, which we don't have, but the point is renewables can be worked with.

Because they are not the pancea, they are unreliable and intermittent and big oil and coal love them, in fact they support them. But hey you want to keep being a big oil and coal shill go for it.

Not in South Africa. Most of the "big oil" and "big coal" BEE guys don't want renewables. After all, "you can't steal the wind and the sun".

Actually it's more the fat cats in government don't want to give up the Eskom SOE, but big oil and coal would lap up renewables, as you still need coal and oil to keep the grid going while the wind does it's thing and the sun does it. I mean they killed off electric cars in the 1900s what makes you think they aren't keeping their fingers in the renewable business for nefarious means?
Also why do you think there are smear campaigns on nuclear? I mean hell even Germany is burning dirty coal instead of restarting some of its nuclear fleet, almost conspiratol.

The govs really messed up how they responded to the nuclear accidents at Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima.

And it doesn't help that the media keeps linking Ukraine's nuclear plant, Russia attacks, and equating it all to nuclear weapons.

Nuclear needs such a PR makeover I fear we'll never see widespread adoption.

Media will do that, they are paid to hype things.
 
Looking forward to esteemed journalists chasing the billions Biden and Brussels are giving the ANC to shut down power stations.
