EskomSePush load-shedding app racks up 2 million users amid confusing load-shedding changes​

Popular load-shedding app EskomSePush now has over 2.2 million users, a figure boosted by multiple bouts of load-shedding in recent weeks.

The free smartphone app - which is available for Android and iOS users - was first launched back in 2015 by co-creators Dan Wells and Herman Maritz.

The tool holds a database of load-shedding schedules from municipalities, making it easier for South Africans to be notified of when load-shedding will hit certain areas they select.

Using this one as well. EskomSePush is probably more popular because it has a PG-rated p0es in its name.

They get the schedules from your supplier so if they're wrong it's likely your municipality or Eskom

Also using Loadshedding Notifier. ESP schedule times were always incorrect for my area. I emailed them a few times to inform them about the wrong times.

ESP has always worked well for us, as long as CoJ plays ball, which they don't always.

I started off using Loadshedding Notifier, but it had issues at some stage that forced me to look elsewhere, and ESP hasn't let me down in Grahamstown or Cape Town.

The nice thing about EskomSePush is that if you have a problem then you just tell them about it and they sort it out.

But surely that should be the norm? You would think so.

I have been using ESP for jonks. For me in my area the schedules have been bang on.

Given the above I have installed Notifier also to check.

I'll give it a couple of days but it would appear advertising in Notifier is somewhat more aggressive (particularly fullscreen on Android).

It is likely to be hoofed as advertising drives me a bit nuts.

not a direct customer, so dont get the bill.
and the location based feature is a bit hit and miss,

No - our municipality has been on the same schedule for months now and every time loadshedding rears its ugly head the app is wrong. These days the go to "app" is a printout on the fridge.

I saw CoCT has a cool web app which predicts based on your gps location. That’s cool..
