Hello All

Great news !!!

We just signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the southern African region with one the largest Notebook battery manufactures in World , the reason for my post to use the expertise of the members of this forum to find out what batteries we should bring import and for which notebook models , as there is currently over 600 stock items and it is impossible to bring all on them in at one go.

We looking to bring in batteries for notebooks that are over two years old and up to recent models

We busy compiling a list and any help would be much appreciated as we want to bring in the first shipments by next week by air cargo from the USA.

You can visit our website and click on the BTI logo to view all the batteries that we want to bring in as we have already uploaded the pictures and few specs on these products.

Best Regards

ESQ

Would be nice if one could find out from the likes of dell, hp, lenovo, toshiba etc how many of each model range they distributed in SA.

Well, personally I'd love a battery for my Asus G73 series notebook.
I know they're a bit old by now but I'm sure there's quite a few of them in circulation and the batteries on these things don't last that long...

That we have already done but to be honest the vendors are not actually helpful in giving that information as they want to sell their own batteries and spares which are over 100% in mark-up compare to what we going to bring in from the USA.

We have already compiled a list of 40 of the best sellers we have sold over the last two years , but actually looking for data from users that have purchased from other sources such as Mass discount stores , Online stores.

An example will be the HP Pavilion Notebook range that is only sold in Large Retail stores and never from a Distributor or from Online stores and even SMME stores.

Hi Esquire

Definitely a good idea covering most of the HP and Dell models since they are the main business laptop brand in SA, therefore sold in a high volume. If you can push your stock as far as 3 years back (thereby lapsing the usual 3 year NBD warranties), you should gain a nice slice of pie.

I would also make sure the entry level segment of the main brands is covered well, for example older HP 610/615 models which used to sell very well.

HP batteries alone are quite hard to come by at a good price, the existing suppliers are having us and their service isn't even good.

I think it's also important to cover laptops sold by Massmart stores, since these will also be sold in high volume. The likes of Samsung, Fujitsu-Siemens and Packard Bell, for example.

All the best!

Agree with PostmanPot's synopsis.
HP, Dell & Packard Bell are what most end users I've dealt with use.
Some have these new Samsung's which most get "free" with some or other cellular contract.

This is great I bought one for a dell inspiron the other day and need one for an hp but I dont have the model numbers at the moment.

I did not expect them to be helpful at all :D

Used them a few times, don't respond to emails fast enough. Best is to phone & get order sorted.

I'd love you forever ( even more than I do right now ) if you could get me a Lenovo y580 battery. Charger would be awesome too!

Hopefully you will implement something like this on your site. Search for models

We already have an API from the vendor that will do just that we needed to get the stock on the online store (which is now done)
My web development team are busy working on adding that to the Online Ordering store as well as to all our VRN online stores and also on our revamped main website that will go live soon

Sony VGP-BPS2

This battery is used in many of the older models, for example the SZ series.

I have ordered some of them over eBay, but those are often of poor quality.
