Esquire warranty is worthless

So maybe he should speak to Freecom and not Esquire then?

As a distributor, I've had similar issues. If the vendor is not prepared for whatever reason to swop, what can we do? Yes, we can go out of our way and take th knock ourselves - but sadly we can't do this for every client.

I've had situations where I have begged the vendor to change etc, but they're not interested. You can slate Esquire, but in many cases, the vendor is also to blame

Would you say the vendor is passing the buck in this instance?

Who cares. This is about a distributor not honouring warranty. Agreed, speak to Freecom/manufacturer management if distributor aren't playing fair.

I hear what you are saying, but the fact remains that my transaction is with Esquire and not the manufacturer. Why should I have to go the route of contacting the manufacturer to get this addressed. If Esquire VALUED their clients, they would take this upon themselves to address with THEIR supplier.

Yep. This is called passing the buck and is not legal.

Legally, the obligation of the warranty is on whomever sold the product.

If I buy from Wootware for example, they are legally obligated to provide the warranty they promised. Similarly Esquire is legally obligated to provide the warranty as promised.

All it will take is for someone to take Esquire to court. However, most of the amounts are fairly low so most businesses write it off as bad debt.

Always fascinating how much bad rep a company will take. Instead of swapping the drive and taking a R110 knock in the name of customer service, they've probably lost a couple of thousand in sales from members on this forum. I know I won't be buying from them again.

I bought a cyborg rat 9 mouse from esquire, 4 weeks later the laser stopped working. Took it in for return, techie told me that mine is the third coming in as faulty. Checked with them every two weeks, and got the BS story that they can't swap it out without returning to the supplier as that is company policy.

Now, 8 weeks later, after repeatedly asking whether the mouse will be warrantied, the techie tells me that there were scratches on the mouse and his manager decided they (esquire) can't take the risk that the supplier won't accept the return. So I, as the customer, have to sit for more than two months waiting for the supplier to decide whether the laser was broken by the scratches. And they can't tell me when the supplier will warranty it, I "just have to wait".

Bottom line is that esquire is willing take-on bad rep in bucketloads.

I don't think they make a lot of money from myBB members. Word of mouth (bad mouthing) is what is going to kill them though.

Nah, definitely think MyBB brings in quite a bit of money.
They are shooting themselves in the foot then. Since the monopolized the Dealer's section "Hardware & Software Dealers - Beta", they are going to find it hard to post there.

Another issue? Bye Bye Esquire, I will not miss you.

One of the guys working for Esquire I've seen @ Sahara.

Probably family members that run the two places.

Glad I haven't needed to buy from them.... Rectron, Corex, Plat and the rest of the boys have only ever treated us well.

Its shocking that they think they can get away with this, what I like though is how everyone on myBB sticks up for one another throughout this issue. At least now the public members will get an idea of the issues some re-sellers sometimes need to eat up while they are "hello Pertering" our asses.

+1 to people who might compete day-to-day, but can stand together and fight a common cause

Thought I would post an example of how the CEO of a company should value client opinion on an issue against them.

This is from a press statement against Woolworths...

Whilst we maintain that we have not copied the Frankie’s range, it is clear that public sentiment is against us. Customer opinion is much more important to us than the right or wrong of this issue, and the trust of our customers is far more valuable to us than a product range.

Their unsubscribble function to their [-]spam emails[/-] marketing emails does not work either.

Nice one, Frankies.

EDIT: Thanks, Esquire, now sorted.
