Essential Mac Apps/Games/Tips

Cool beans. I left it overnight like that last night by mistake and the battery went down quite a bit though.

Someone mentioned the magic mouse. I have been looking at one, the only thing that bothers me is that it doesn't feel that comfy to hold and move around... Is it really that useful in comparison to other mice like a logitech or microsoft bluetooth one for instance?

I'm wanting to play a few games on my mac as well...

How much is quite a bit? I left mine unplugged overnight and it dropped 2%.

Yeah, takes a little while to get used to how it feels... I love mine and, like I said, the multi-touch surface has a lot of the functionality of your MBP's track pad. It might be an idea to check them out in-store before buying one 'tho.

Yeah check the mouse out - its not for everyone. I hated it and returned it but some people swear by it. I settled for a logitech wireless which is much more comfortable for me.

I managed to install Oblivion on my mac with Crossover games. It works perfectly, it's just not that cool to play with a trackpad! - Which is why I was enquiring whether the Magic Mouse would be okay for games or what better bluetooth mouse would be. :D

I'm looking for a (preferably free) program for ripping a DVD, any someone can recommend?

Just to add Handbrake is good but won't give you AVI files, some people still have a need for AVI. Mac The Ripper only rips the VOB files and does not perform any conversion.
You could use a program like iMedia Converter to convert the file formats though.

I use Ripit for ripping and handbrake for conversion. I don't see why anyone would *need* avi, it's just a container, a crappy one at that, that's why Handbrake dropped it. MP4 (H.264/AAC) is the standard.

Anyway, unfortunately RipIT isn't free and Mactheripper - I don't know what's up with it. I pirated Ripit but it's really worth the $10 IMO.

I don't use it either but some people like it because that is all that their or their friends DVD players can play. I just use MKV.

Mactheripper didn't work for me, came up with errors about reading dmv.
