ET500 Gate Motor Not Working After Track Obstruction

Opened the gate this morning and it got stuck. Put motor on manual, cleared the obstruction, and ensured the track was clear by opening and closing the gate fully. Now the motor will not engage – the remote triggers the circuitboard, but the motor does not turn. Have tried turning mains off and disconnecting battery, but no luck.

How do I fix?
 
Are you sure the gear is properly locked back on auto with the little door locked? Rock the gate back and forth, and clean out the override cubby thing to make sure the door fully closes.

afair there is a little switch in the override door mechanism that interlocks the motor if that latch isn't closed back up.

Thanks for your reply. I found the little door unlocked and slightly open, but with the lock locked meaning the door cannot close fully as the locking mechanism is in the way.

However the door is working, as opening it fully is what puts the gate on manual. When the door is closed slightly, or as much as it can, the gate returns to not being on manual.

So I presume the door being as closed as possible is enough to return the motor to normal operation? But still not working. The key we have labelled for the gate motor is the incorrect one.
 
Many of those motors have fuses that blow if they are impeded from closing
 
Ok I just checked on mine. Assuming you've checked the gate is solidly locked on the gear and not moving freely, try this:

Unplug the connector circled here:

Then short those pins together. It should beep. Keeping the short in place, press your remote button. It should beep again several times indicating the overload setting. Another press, it should open.

If you don't hear the beeping, you've got some other issue, e.g. with the remote. If you get the beeps but no movement, it could be a fuse. If it works though with these pins shorted, then the problem is with your override latch or switch.

Gate solid, unplugged connector, shorted pins, beeped, pressed remote, beeped several times, pressed again and I just hear the click of it trying to initiate the motor. But the motor is still not coming on.

So it could be a fuse then? I checked and the spare is not the same as the accessible circled fuse in my below pic. Shall I go and get 3x new fuses and swap them out?

The other two fuses, I presume the top green parts clip off?

Motor fuse is the one in yellow - 25 A fast-blow 5x20mm. Yes the green cover clips off.

But I also see ants in your picture. They could be a clue. When the wildlife burned out my board, the gate randomly getting stuck was the first symptom. I could also sometimes get the relay to click, but the motor wouldn't run. Hopefully this isn't your issue.

UPDATE: You can also try twisting the "LOAD POT" as far as it goes, clockwise. This will make the gate less sensitive to a rough track, just in case it's an issue with the torque sensing.

Thank you. I hear you but it wasn't random, so I don't think the dead ants are meaningful. Also sprayed some Doom not too long ago... Since the board behaves correctly after shorting the pins, I think it's fine. I'll try get one of those fuses today, and will let you know how it goes!

All sorted. It was the fuse and I used some fuse wire clamped down by the faulty fuse to get it working again until I get a new fuse.

Morning guys, thanks so much for your post here, i had this exact problem with my ET500 and was able to troubleshoot and sort out in no time thanks to you guys!! Cheers!
 
I always keep a stock of 20A 10mm fuses. 8 out of 10 complaints like the OP are due to a blown fuse

Such a service call takes 5 mins to resolve (unless the customer has lost the key for the anti-theft bracket padlock)
 
Bump! Motor not working this morning. Receiving power but pressing the remote doesn’t trigger any action or activity on the board. Noticed some ants inside. Motor worked last night… A fuse again?
 
Before disconnecting power & battery. 2 red and 1 green LEDs.

After disconnecting power & battery. 2 red LEDs, no green. After reconnecting battery, it beeps and then clicks a few seconds later. Still no remote response or activity.

Have reset the control card and reprogrammed the remotes, and still no signal received.

Trigger/button on the board works. After removing and reconnecting power, pressing the trigger results in 5 short beeps…

I noticed that some cement around the track has become raised, and is touching the gate when it opens. Could this be causing my issue?

Et service centre nearby? Can maybe take control card for testing

So if you trigger it from the board, it opens/closes normally? But if you press your remote button, it doesn't respond?

If so then it sounds like it's an issue with the receiver module.

Do you see the Rx LED flickering when you press the remote button? Same LED that should have flashed when programming.
