Need to check up on this.

PTT?
Cross network PTT?
Still the standards issue...

Prepaid Data Bundles?
Monday? Pure speculation, of course...

ROFL, actually just knowing you guys is fun enough...

Actually, as the techies amongst the forumites will know, the engineers are the real unsung heroes. When everything goes well, no one even thinks about them. When the @#$ hits the fan, they're cr*pped on.

As a former techie (not of Vodacom) ... I can totally testify to that!!!

I am a techie been one for the last 10 years not for Vodacom (dont have that high flying job) and we get crapped on on almost a daily basis... having said that I still think that V3G deserves some sort of reward for all the hard a great work he has done not only for Vodacom but for keeping the forumites in the loop...

Well if not a promotion, then atleast make sure that they give you a big fat bonus ;-)

ITO of the list, cross network video calls is definately the most exciting on the list, I know a lot of people that are looking forward to this, it will definately boost the market for video phones.

PTT is more of a novelty, although it would be usefull for a particular problem I have right now, we have armed response and all that and we have remote controls to turn the alarm on or off, the only problem is that you never know if its on or not unless the last person to leave the house lets you know. In the end someone always sets the damn thing off. Now our solution to this would be PTT because you could easily create a group and its simple enough to press one button on your phone, say "the alarm is on" and it magically (thanks to those hardworking engineers) ends up at all the people it needs to. And its a lot more secure than putting a huge red light on the gate of my house. ;)

WRT to prepaid databundles, will they carry over? Speculate for us ;)

Pre-paid bundle backend systems were given as the reason for the delay in getting the lightweight page. So there should be no more excuses. Will put pressure in the right places.

I use SMS to turm my alarm on and off and get notification via SMS as well, so it's bi-directional. Can this work for you?

Yeah that could work, could you setup a group with say 4 numbers?
I assume your vendor provided that functionality?
I already have the remotes etc rigged up
