Hi Guys

Which companies in South Africa can you buy ETFs from?
The ones that I know about are:

Satrix
EFTsa
PSG
EasyEquities

Thanks

Absa, rmb...
They're traded on the stock market so if you want to buy them directly you'll need a share trading account or similar.

Then buy the Unit trust version instead.

You mean of the trading platform. Basically a unit trust trading platform?
Interesting... will look into the costs and if one can purchase ETFs on that platform.

Thanks.

Btw - I've already have investments via Satrix and ETFsa. I'm just curious what other options South Africans have when purchasing ETFs.

Easy equities and Etfsa is the best.

I use Easy equities thou

If you are only going to by ETFs and only do it long term then ETFSA and EasyEquities are pretty much your only real options. The other platforms are unnecessarily expensive or limited to their own products in this regard.

The question should be which one SHOULD you buy from. And in that case unless you get a cheaper rate than 0.25% negotiated with someone else, buy with Easy Equities. ETFsa is FAR more expensive.

True that! Easy equities for the win!!

I use ETFSA. My only gripe is the manual-ness of the paper work... you have to print out and sign etc etc. But with that said....

Is ETFSA really for more expensive?

That's the one thing that drove me away from ETFSA and SATRIX. I had the application papers in my hands for both of them and it is just too manual.

Hi,

Sorry for probing... but how easy or difficult is Easy Equities? In other words how easy is it to adjust your monthly debit order?

I have an RA with Allan Gray and that is simple.... I fired my financial advisor for that as they insisted on me filling in forms and signing AND giving them commission each time i increased my RA monthly amount. Cant ttell you how angry i got when i heard that Allan Gray "online" was just a few clicks...

Easy equities is not a debit order thou, I might be wrong but I believe the only way you can fund is via eft so I set a monthly eft from my Capitec account to easy equities and then I go onto their platform and but the stuff I want very very easy.

Ok cool

so
1) FICA with them..
2) ETF in whatever you want to "spend"...
3) Once cash clears... then do with it as you please..
After FICAíng, there is no additional "documentation required"

Right?

FICA is very quick just upload Id, residential like electric bill or utility or something and bank statement like download from the bank and upload

Lady calls you tell you hi sir thanks and welcome.

Make a payment wait 1 day.

Then buy as you please.

Want to buy more.

Make eft, wait 1 day.

( money is in a wallet so you don't have to spend it all.)
Then buy.

No forms no fuss.

You waited one day? I waited maybe an hour and my ETF reflected.

Capitec is cheap and cost effective other banks just rape yiu

Pretty much the same with Satrix, which is why I never bothered. Opened an FNB Share Saver account which required no paperwork at all since they already have all my details...
