I am looking for recommendations for Ethernet over power adapters. My server is at one end of the house & I wish to connect my RPi media device to the TV at the other end of the house.
Suggestions please.

As long as you avoid multi-adapters, surge protectors etc you should not have any problems. Surge protectors and the lot tend to scramle the signal. A good start is TP Link EoP

Also, the units occupy the whole plug, so just remember that you loose the power functionality of the plug you are using. Why not just run a cable through the ceiling. Higher throughput, better reliability etc

They work, but I dumped mine and ran UTP cable throughout. I would even go Wifi before POE.

Mine is running fine on a multi plug with about 5 other devices plugged in TP-Link AV500 Nano Powerline Ethernet. For streaming Netflix and Showmax it's doing it's job . Not sure if I would use it to copy large amounts of data thou.I have found that it does not work on all the multi plugs but a simple double power adapter on main power for the multi plug sorts out the issue.

Sometimes the distribution board cuts off the signal. I noticed as long as the 2 plugs are on the same circuit they work fine. Rather go WiFi imo.

3 phase didn't work for us either. I never really liked the idea of plugging in a network cable straight into your wall socket. There is zero surge protection and a lightning strike or surge will blow up everything connected to it.

I find that a standard wall adaptor overcomes this problem, similar to this http://www.takealot.com/ellies-fea4s-electrical-adaptor/PLID34187475 but without the surge protection, available from most supermarkets. Use in combination with standard multiplug extensions.

Midrand, Gauteng and before you ask lightning is an issue. When I still had a Telkom line every storm was another hit, till I faraday caged the house and disconnected Telkom copper.

I find that the powerline extender is not the best for doing media streaming from a server.

My "server" is a old pc running plex and its connected to the powerline. 80% of the time it would stream perfectly and on some really high quality videos it would get stuck. Although I'm not completely sure if it's a powerline issue or a plex issue.

You will also experience some cut outs in Internet for like a minute. I looked all over for a solution I can't find anything.

If you have the budget get a Ubiquiti AC LR Wifi router it has good range and great speeds.

You have spent plenty on your equipment and TV. Why now take a short cut when it comes to connectivity? Run separate cabling or use Wi-Fi/ Wi-Fi extenders.

No one can give you a straight answer without know how good the power wiring is and whether all the points you want to connect are on the same phase and or circuit breaker.
