lol. randy i admire the way you always so quick to pick up the shield for your players no matter what they do or don't do. i hope someone defends your honour so quickly and without fear...and those swan dives are a thing of beauty...must say the refs have been top notch in this euros when it comes to dives and letting the game flow. cant remember which boring game i was watching (must have been spain:whistle:) where there were only 3 freekicks or something for the half...:wtf:

Nah I agree, he probably was the best English player. But as I say, that isn't the same as being good.

i hated the fact that villa scored and carried spain to the finals in euro 08

i cant recall he was injured or banned and torres scored the winner and he is the best thing since sliced bread

villa is class always

Yeah, Villa missed it to injury.

It's almost impossible to compare the two, especially at international level.

Torres: 30 goals in 97 games (0.31 goals/game)
Villa: 51 goals in 82 games (0.62 goals/game)

Torres: 154 goals in 362 club games (0.43 goals/game)
Villa : 226 goals in 433 club games (0.52 goals/game)

No to mention that when they play together, Villa plays in support of Torres, providing him with service.

Imagine Italy had to convert at least half of there chances, how embarrassed England would be now. More than what they are now. Or maybe if they went a goal down, they would actually of decided to attack. But guess we will never know. If Italy is going to play like that against Germany, I think Germany is going to punish them.

Portugal to play counter attack against Spain and win. Think the pace of Ronaldo and Nani we will be the demise of Spain. As I type this, really hope the opposite is true.

True but I feel these Euros they've done a lot more passing than before.
I'm still supporting them tho and see them winning the thing.
 
Just imagine how much worse off the English would have been had they selected more Man Utd players ?

Representing one's country at international level and PERFORMING disguishes and separates the men from the boys...

Sadly Rooney and co just don't play at a consistent enough level when representing their country. SAD indeed!

Do you have any memories of him ever performing for England.... ?
 
Point being....


Like most other players...the step up to international level isn't achieved.


Playing week in and week out with pride and passion,winning domestic honours, doesn't translate into success at the highest level.
 
I guess we'll never know.

He was great for England before he got played out and position and subsequently retired.

But then again Hodgson's style of play was very defensive and Scholes wouldn't have done much if the ball kept on getting hoofed up field to the strikers.

But then again if Scholes was in the team, they wouldn't have to do that.
 
The English have no style when it comes to Football.


If it weren't for the flood of foreigners plying their trade in the UK together with the vast amounts of monopoly money being spent, heaven only knows what the state of the domestic game would have been like.........



English are good for nothing.
 
Thes Ukrainians must relax, they must realise Spain isn't here to make them happy.
 
I'm 100% certain this will end 1-0 to Spain like most of them do.

In fact, i've put 20 pounds on it.
