Euro 2012 Thread

Spain vs Crotia yawn... that was the most boring football I've ever seen... keep the ball for 80 min no goal on comes Jesus and Boom GOAL!

Seriously who wants to watch 90 min of passing the ball to each other... oh wait I almost did :p

they did the cobra trick!:p

Heard on the radio Mario goal for Italy Is worth watching again any truth to that?

A Greece-Spain game would be enough to put you into a coma. Both employ the similar concept of boring you to death before sneaking a goal home. Greece will just sit back and try and catch you on the counter while Spain will attempt 437 passes to have one shot at goal. Spain has to be the least attractive yet most effective football team in recent years.

I wish the Germans were firing on all cylinders, because they are incisive and devastating when on their game. Just ask Argentina and England.

Even though the tempo of the game was way too slow for a Euro match, Spain always played to win even though they really didn't need to. A draw would have sufficed. The match stats prove this.

Croatia Spain
3 SHOTS ON TARGET 9
2 SHOTS OFF TARGET 5
4 CORNER KICKS 11
13 CROSSES 21

Croatia on the other side could've been more attacking seeing that they needed either a win or a high scoring draw. Instead they packed the midfield with defensive players. How odd?

It almost worked for them, they came very close on a few ocassions.

Am I the only 1 who think Spain is like Barcelona, play good football, but complain too much. TBH I haven't watched much of the other games to compare how much the other teams complains. But last night, the Spaniards were like a bunch of pansies. Complaining about the slightest of touches on them. Don't get me wrong, I like there players. But I just got a bit irritated on how much of the time there were on the floor

mario is a laanie! he just needs to grow up a little. talent is immense.

Mario does well coming on as a sub, he is the type of player that can get that goal...

I think the comes down to lack of respect to the weaker team... Italy (vs Spain) went out with Guns blazing so Spain took tackles lightly but when Spain plays a team that defends they resort to roll on the floor or trying to get a man sent off...

But hell passing 600 times with almost 80% possession in a game whilst you only have 15 shots is worse than watching a team park the bus

Yeah Croatia had some good opportunities.

Well seeing as more than half the Spanish players play for Barca, it's not surprising.

I like Spains style of play, but just like parking the bus I do see how that style could be very boring.

Do you remember the last time the Germans met the Spanish? What was the result again? ;)

Um you sure? I seem to remember Italy doing their usual and defending like crazy, like parking the bus.

So another fail for FIFA, the Additional Assistant Referee, placed specifically behind the goal lines, could not determine that the ball has gone over the line.... :erm:

Yes the ball was over, but one of the Ukrainian players was offside when the attack first started. Not to mention the Ukraine player was offside when he headed just over Hart.

So fail by the linesman.

Yeah he was off, but if the goal was given it would have stood, even if replays confirmed he was offside initially...just like the replays confirm the ball was over the line. So if FIFA is looking at an electronic system for goal line technology, they might as well look at something for offsides too, particularly during goal scoring plays...to remove that element of human failure.

So do the QF fixtures go Winner/runner up Group A vs Runner up/Winner Group B and Winner/runner up Group C vs Runner up/Winner Group D?
