Nothing mentioned on the board about Atletico winning the Europa league.

Well done to them.

Great on Fulham as well for making it so far. What was that thing about no depth in La Liga again?

When a team that barely makes it into the top half of the table wins the EUROPA league, it must say something about the strength of the league.

Funny thing - they were in the Europa League because they got spanked out of the Champions League before the knockout stage. Fulham started in the Europa League...

Yup, many diss the EUROPA league but i think it is a great tourney.

Interesting that the once forgotten and ridiculed Forlan was the reason why both EPL clubs got knocked out. He is one hell of a striker!

I think it may be pushing it a little to tlk about the strength of the Spanish league considering that between 2nd and 3rd was about a 25 point gap. Also in terms of goal difference Barca and Real were about +60 each and next best was +18. I don't know how that shows a strong league when only two teams performed.

hahaha that statement is a double edged sword... Forlan couldn't score in 20 odd matches in the EPL so he ran off to La Liga... so what does that say about the defence in La Liga?

One doesnt have to look very far back to see similair gaps in the EPL. This thing works in cycles. My point is, that Atletico a team who barely made the top half of the table won the EUROPA league. It shows how strong the teams are in La Liga.

Put it into perspective, Barca only lost one game this season in the league. Want to guess who they lost to?

For me, teams performing in the EURPOPA league shows the leagues depth. Look at the EPL's top 4 - lower down, there isnt really any teams worth mentioning.

Reason why I added that was because Forlan was ridiculed for not performing in the EPL. Then when he started banging them home in La Liga, many shouted that it was easier to score in La Liga. I added that because it would seem that it is just as easy to score in the EPL.

What was his return this season against EPL teams? Scored 4 goals against 2 EPL teams?

2 epl teams?
They started in the CL where they faced
Forlan didn't score against Chelski in the CL it was Aguero that scored

The EPL team in the Europa ended up where? 7 and 12...

Two EPL teams = Liverpool + Fulham, unless they suddenly play somewhere else outside the EPL?

I was expecting you to mention chelski as al madrid started the campaign from the cl not the europa

Wow if your 9th team in La Liga Narrowly beats EPL's 12 team is a great achievement then there's definately no need for this discussion to go any further as you've stated over and over and over nothing else besides La Liga is good enough. Plus your whole arguement that Forlan is doing so well in La Liga vs when he was in EPL with 20 odd games and no goal is merely burying yourself deeper in a hole

Amazing 9 vs 12 winning narrowly means La Liga > EPL

bwahahahahhaahahahaha

I would have loved Valencia to play in the other half of the draw, im convinced we would have had 2 Spanish sides in the final.

Atletico played CL football last season, they barely made it into the top half this season. More evidence that the ever changing table in La Liga just shows how unpredictable it is. We almost had Mallorca play CL football next season had it not been for a 94th minute goal from Sevilla to secure them the CL spot. Two seasons ago, we had Villereal grace the CL. I wonder what La Liga team will burst into the CL spot next season.

You forget to mention that Atletico beat the mighty Liverpool to reach the final and Forlan punished them.

Same way he punished Fulham in the final. I can just imagine what Valencia would have done to Liverpool and Fulham.

silly argument - a cup competition like the europa league is in no way a bearing of a teams capabilities - on the day fulham pushed athletico as far as possible and athletico won. fair play - match over.

if fulham had won, would that have made the premier league any stronger? sure it looks good on the cards, but i think you're clutching at straws here to fulfill your own arguments.

to suggest they faced inferior opposition is cheap shot at a great trophy and result for atletico

desperate, empty, childish claims and arguments once again - but hardly surprising.

Whatever makes you sleep at night.

La Liga performed better than the EPL in Europe this season. They made it further in the Champions League and they made it further in the EUROPA league.

You wont understand the point if it knocked you straight bang in your face.

Yes but there's a german and italian team in the CL finals therefore the Budesliga and Serie A must be the strongest leagues in the world?

This season it would seem that the German team and Italian team is stronger than the La Liga and EPL teams in the Champions League hence why they are in the final.

Reason why i only compared La Liga and EPL is that in both competitions they faced each other.

Atletico against Liverpool and Fulham
Barca against Arsenal

Now that i think about it, the EPL really had a terrible season in Europe.

Hahaha making up stories as you go

Last 16, 3 EPL teams in, United, Arsenal, Chelski
3 Spanish Teams RM, Barca, Sevilla

QF: 2 EPL teams, 1 la Liga

Semi: 1 La Liga

RM lost to lowly rated Lyon
Sevilla lost to CSK

Arsenal lost to Barca
United lost to Bayer
Chelski lost to Inter

Barca lost to Inter

By this logic EPL teams lost to guys in the final whist apart from Barca the rest lost to lowly rated teams... Really who's had a tougher route?

I wouldnt really say that the EPL teams had a tough draw, well Chelsea did because they played Inter.

So your claim to fame is that there was one more EPL team in the Quarter Final> LoL

Who did Bayern play to make the final, they had the easiest of all the draws.
