EUROPA League final

Dumb argument. By the same token we could say that EPL has greater depth because the team that came last in the League made it to the Finals of the FA Cup.
 
You have to admit that the EPL did terrible in Europe this season.

Terrible? considering 2 in the QF and 3 in the last 16 plus 1 in Europa Final?

For a 12 placed team to be in the final vs a 9th placed team in the final...

So making a final in the EUROPA league and not even making a semi final in the CL is good enough for you?

put it this way neither the English or spanish or French or Italian or German leagues were dominating this year, which is a good balance, what you expecting the EPL teams to make the top 4 in the CL every season?
 
Not at all. At least one team in the semi final would have been good but not to make it that far in Europe was pretty poor.

ESPN described it as the EPL taking a step backwards.

So, Barca won the CL last year, and got knocked out the semi's this year - that means la liga took a step backwards too?

Not having any representation in the semi final of the CL was what they were pointing out as taking a step backwards.

They also commented that the top 4 was weaker this season compared to the rest of the league getting better,

Dont you guys watch this program?

Also - no representation in the final for la liga is also a step backwards
 
To be honest ESPN soccernet presspass has gone backwards!

Tommy is a total ass of a presenter. He spoils the entire show for me.

The only oke who really knows his worth is Gab Marcotti <spelling> - Robby Mustoe isnt too bad either, his comments are fair.

The entire panel agreed that the EPL went backwards in that episode.
 
Shaka Hislop forgets how crap he was as a keeper, who was kept out by the ageing, if not aged Pavel Srnicek at Newcastle - Robbie Mustoe was an average player at best (I'm being too kind here, I think being in the Pannini Sticker Album was the highlight of his career) - Janusz is good, but he has his favourites and sometimes gives has biased reasoning - I would say every now and then, Robbie Earle comes on, and he gives the fairest reflection on the panel.

Gotta say, I love it when Tommy Smyth refers to the net as the 'Ol Onion Bag'.

I agree here, Gab is another who is fair and mostly spot-on.

Edit: as far as the EPL taking a step backward - if making the Final every season consecutively is seen as a step forward, then the facts are there. However I don't believe that not making the final should be seen as a step backward - sometimes, especially in these competitions, the is a fair amount of the luck of the draw factor which plays into your hands - or evidently, out of it. I don't think that a single season should be basis for that argument.

Ya considering how the EPL lost 2 of it's big performers definately means the EPL is moving backwards United didn't have ronaldo and tevez to carry them to the CL Final :D
It's not exactly going backwards compared to La Liga who took on the most prolific forward and Italy's top striker and great midfielder to La Liga yet they couldn't move a stride forward :D

Yup, we cant - Inter or Bayern will have a shot at that tag for the season.

I will take a semi final over a round of 16 any damn day of the season.
