Nope its 10GW...
Eskoms total capacity is around 40,000MW -- i.e. 40GW
Their availability of that capacity is in the 60-70% range
44Gw, and it's been as low as 57%, was 70% for 2 months of lockdown but than again planned maintenance was nothing.
 
When I grew up in the 1970s we had electric clocks (grid synchronised). They were (mostly) very accurate, over hours and weeks.

My microwave's clock runs off the 50Hz electrical supply. It's pretty darn accurate until load-shedding hits, then has to be reset. So no long-term testing... :rolleyes:
 
Put a clamp meter to the DB board, and our local supply seems pretty darn close to the benchmark of 50.00Hz;

With random testing the supply seems to vary between 49.99Hz and 50.00Hz, but that is obviously due to the inaccuracy of inductive testing. Would need an oscilloscope to accurately measure the results - but then again, Eskom might be running a little high or low depending on average frequency. Not sure how much load-shedding affects these numbers? I'm sure it's pretty high - but there doesn't seem to be much documentation on the synchronization of electrical supply from the national grid down to the local municipal level, and how the systems react when there is an interruption in electrical supply.

Either way it has no bearing on the average user if we keep getting load-shed. :ROFL:

You use randomness to generate private keys. Also as IVs in most crypto handshakes. Ever played with OpenSSL?

nah you know with some key generation programs it asks you to wiggle the mouse for a bit...that's the part he wants to replace. Computers struggle to generate their own "true" randomness because they are by nature deterministic
