Everything developers are not allowed to do with DStv and Showmax

The fact that Matt did not make any money does not make intellectual property theft somehow legal. Just because you stole a car and did not make money from your theft, does not make you any less of a thief.

That is a widespread myth that intellectual property is only stolen when a profit is made, simply not true.

Silly analogy - he created an alternate client to be able to view DSTV LEGALLY using the very same interfaces that DSTV extend to their applications - he didn't interfere, timeshift, placeshift, resell or provide any services other than an alternate client and source code to legitimate subscribers. From an analogous standpoint it's the same as creating an open-source satellite decoder box which is compatible with a dstv smart card.

First part is wrong, never stole it. He gave another method to access with correct credentials that required paying customers. At no point does it state that he was recording/streaming it himself, it still came from Dstv servers, same as if you were using the android app.

Relevance in the second regard?
EDIT:

You beat me to it as I didn't click enter, I should really take advantage of the new refresh feature. :p

Problems are golden oppertunities. A very good friend of mine, and also very successful bussinessman told me that. Unfortunately, DSTV still cant see that. I've cancelled my DSTV premium account, about 4 years ago and never felt sorry. I do have a legit Netflix account and I'm using Kodi with the Netflix plugin/addon. What a pleasure. I've been thinking about gettting Showmax but with this outlook from DSTV, I will steer away from that. I'll rathet add Amazon wich also have a kodi add-on.

lol

Works with DStv Now, Netflix, and Showmax

This Android media player will instantly turn your TV into a Smart TV, with the world of Android apps on your big screen. Simply plug in your TV, connect to the internet, and you will be ready to stream live TV from DStv or watch movies and series on demand from Netflix and Showmax.

Please note that DStv and Netflix have been specifically configured to work on this device. We recommend that you DO NOT upgrade these apps via the Google Play Store, as this may cause the app to stop working. Rest assured that you will be able to enjoy all your favourite movies, series and live content.

This sucks, and shows how ignorant Multichoice is.
Anyone get a chance to fork the code? I'll gladly host multiple copies.

When are companies going to realise that taking down one source on the internet creates a hydra affect?
