Live in glenwood Durban , -57dB signal so no problems there. jitter is perfect for gaming.

the problem:
ALWAYS having issues with the telkom DNS when on automatic, then I change to google dns which is a temp fix.
There's also this "dip of no internet" where everything stops working every night after 12 for about 9 minutes. then about 30 mins later its again with the DNS issue, games stay connected fine. Then the same thing happens around 10 o clock the next morning.

The fish:
everything stops working except the telkom site :twisted::mad:

its definitely not switching from 3g to edge as its forced to go 3g and there would be no reason to swop over as the signal is perfect and I would have picked it up during gaming time.

running a ping shows stable ping of 56-59 locally and then it just drops dead with 100% packet loss or a ping jump to 245 when the issue occurs, i dont notice it while gaming as my ping is already around that since i play world of tanks.

The same "refresh connection disconnection" happened to my cellc sim. So it might be at the base station?

is there an alternative dns I could try ? something like OpenDNS ? how reliable is this ?

This also happens often to me (every 20 minutes or so). I live in the greater Johannesburg area and would be awesome if a Telkom rep could help us out. My connection also drops down to 0kbps for up to 15 seconds, can't be arsed with this connection anymore. I've also tried using Google's DNS to no luck.

When you describe problem, please give details of your modem or router and connection type: RAS dialing, HiLink/NDIS (network adapter). I saw various DNS problems on Huawei B683 and another problem on some other brand. Router is restarting some services, pausing Internet for 20-30 seconds.

@OP. If you have no problem accessing Telkom free homepage or it happens at midnight, problem is probably on the Telkom side.
