Evetech warranty disaster

I think you need to read the ts and cs properly.
So what would you have me do?

PartServe have been copied on everything since June. Evetech didn't hand me over to them, Evetech ran the process and relayed every decision. There was no great, let me hand you over. I had no direct line to PartServe until they were added to an email thread, where they didnt respond to anything only Evetech did.

Anyway, I ran the serial through Lenovo's own warranty lookup just now. 3Y upgrade, ID TPH, ends May 2028. Status: In Warranty, Active, 635 days remaining. Repair status shows no cases logged against the serial at all.

So Lenovo says I'm covered. Someone else says I'm not.

I've been burnt by this water damage bs with samsung I think it was.
The phone had never got wet but the phone model had a known issue where just normal levels of humidity would trigger the internal water present stickers to turn colour and despite the repair being something totally unrelated to water damage they refused the warranty claim when they opened the phone and saw the water present stickers showing as having moisture ingress.

But when it comes to laptop's they generally only refuse the warranty claim if the liquid damage actually caused the issue, for them to refuse the fan repair due to liquid damage on the keyboard only is bs.

Some Dell laptops are actually designed with special drain holes in the keyboard to ensure spills don't kill the laptop.
"Many business-class Dell laptops—particularly older or rugged models in lines like the Latitude and Precision series—feature internal liquid channels and small drain holes on the bottom case. These pathways safely direct accidental spills through the chassis and out the bottom, protecting the sensitive motherboard from total failure"

You're not covered by Lenovo, you need to forget that part completely. You are covered by Partserve who said you damaged your laptop, take it up with them.

That sounds very unlucky.

You're not covered by Lenovo, you need to forget that part completely. You are covered by Partserve who said you damaged your laptop, take it up with them.
But isn't Partserve just like a Lenovo functionary? Like I am only having to deal with Partserve because Lenovo said so. It's a manufacturer warranty not a partserve warranty.

The warranty as written disagrees with you.
Once again. You are not covered by Lenovo, that is not your warranty.
You are covered by them
So take it up with them, it's not Lenovo or Evetech but them. They said no. You can argue till you are blue in the face but it'll need to be with Partserve.

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/za/en/...ro-5-16irx9/83df/83df00cdsa/pf51w6d6/warranty - that makes this extra confusing.

They apply theirs on top of the baseline warranty.
This is their warranty part
Warranty includes any manufacturing faults and specifically excludes the following

Physical damage, liquid damage or infestation
Usage outside of the intended use or over usage of the part, or consuming the life of the part within the warranty time frame

So you'll need to argue with them over this.

That's PartServe's shop policy, for products bought from PartServe. First line says so: warranties offered on PartServe products sold online or through one of our branches. Three month spare parts warranty, seven day returns, R550 exchange fee. That's a storefront's T&Cs.

I didn't buy anything from PartServe. My warranty is a Lenovo 3Y upgrade, ID TPH, ends May 2028. Lenovo's own lookup still shows it active with 635 days left.

They service it. They didn't sell it to me.

This product has a three year limited warranty which includes a warranty upgrade
Did you take

The "Voiding" Dispute: If a service center (such as PartServe in South Africa) finds liquid residue inside a machine, they often classify the entire unit as compromised by CID. Standard terms allow them to refuse warranty repairs if liquid caused or contributed to a failure, or if internal corrosion spreads.

So you take the fight to them.

This is essentially what I have been saying, they have not showed that liquid caused or contributed to a failure or the corrosion thing. If they had I would have no issue.

Then take the fight to partserve, they are the ones who said no

You don’t see liquid damage, they just look for the liquid damage markers and when they see those have changed colour they don’t ever bother looking further at the repair and just reject it out of hand.

Game over I’m afraid. And you can be sure the warranty was never legally with Evetech but the manufacturer, who chose the useless Partserve to represent them.

They don’t have to.

They just see that liquid was there because the marker turned red and that’s all they need to reject the warranty claim.

They haven’t given you a “how to fix it” because they didn’t even bother looking any further.

They probably won’t even offer to repair it and tell you to go elsewhere because they don’t want the liability.

This is probably all true, it just isnt how the warranty is written which is clear they need to establish causation.
