Agreed - the bible belt in the States should be nuked. The problem isn't with Christianity per se - any system of beliefs taken to the extreme is bad news - but it is the world's most pervasive religion. Thus, the numbers of those overstepping the lines of sanity are bound to be both higher and more obvious than those going overboard in the name of other deities...

Both of these statements show clear bigotry and intolerance and that is what is highlighted. You are welcome to discuss this in the open. Social groups are public and for all to see. No-one is preventing you from discussion it there.

They display clear bigotry and intolerance towards a sub-population. You and I might not agree with that sub population, but intolerance and bigotry stays just that, irrespective of who it is aimed at.

It is easy. When others post thoughts that lead off topic, they are horrible off topic trolls. When he contributes to off topic posts (as one inevitably does), he is being informative and following decorum.

It is very dificult to follow/take part in a debate on evolution if:
a) you do not define the "Evolutionary Design"
b) you derail your own thread by quoting posts that has absolutely no relevance to the OP.

I abhor religious fallacy purported as fact, that is all. I haven't said much in opposition to your teleological view, because it cannot be falsified beyond doubt.

I don't stand outside churches thumping a copy of The God Delusion :p

Funny how a little conversation can serve to make one question one's preconceptions regarding the nature of another's character, isn't it? Yet I wonder whether you aren't merely being patronising.

But seeing as you asked the question... I see it as a different reaction to mine ultimately brought on by your own argumentative style and apparent disregard for the opinions of others.

I've said this before - if your style of posting was conducive to discussions, others would freely contribute more to your threads than the odd quip. I'm unsure whether I should delete this post or not, though. :D
