I'll keep looking for a solution that does not require having to select a formatting style everytime.
You can't.Excel seems to be applying a default custom format to dd-mmm for text strings resembling a date in a general cell. If you look at the custom options yyyy/mm/dd is there but excel is programmed to default to dd-mmm which is also an option. I've googled but cannot find anything on how to change this default behaviour.

I'll just go standard then.Standard version, I was on the Free version until recently & then bought the standard license as I use it alot.
