And this has to go under the shift option?

It should go in the second page under Saturday night and also have an individual colour.
I would then be able to select from the drop down box in first page but using the set colour.
I am not sure why after adding the names and checking the formulas on conditional formatting it won't allow me to do it myself

Basically what you have done wrong is that during conditional formating, you have only selected "OK", instead of "Apply".
