Excel problem

If I try click on an Excel spreadsheet, it opens excel, but doesn't show the document. But if you open it from Excel it works.

I put the CD in and tried a "repair" but the same thing still happens. It's Office 03 btw.

No. Office 03 students and teachers. Running windows XP.

Try to re-register Excel by hitting start run and type excel.exe /regserver and then click OK.

Since it opens Excel we can assume the file type registration is OK ... it could be some delay relating to windows explorer or to virus checking, or [fill in anything else you can think of].

If you double-click the excel file and then wait a long time - 10 minutes - does excel show the file?

What OS, and what antivirus are you running?

Try disabling your AV ... try running in safe mode ... not sure what else.

I've seen something like this and it was related to windows just being too busy with stuff. It could be performance related ... Do you have enough RAM? Have you defragmented recently?
