Excel query

Why would a cell show a number like 38756 as a date above in the formula bar when date is selected yet it shows up as a number.

He means that the cell is formatted as a date, but the value (in the "url" bar above) says 38756.
I have no idea why it would do that, btw.

I dont quite understand your query either but its a cell format issue, change the format to date and it wont show a number

It must be set on some weird format, "control 1" to check, just change it to date to correct it

Right click cell, go to format cells

Then on the Number tab, choose date then choose the type you want

Otherwise click custom and put the following in the Type part "yyyy/mm/dd"

Checked that remy but that does not work.

Excel is in Show formulas mode and to remove it Ctrl and ~
