Several stories the past week seems to indicate that violent crimes are on the increase at the start of this new year.

Is this just an increase in crime reporting?

It wouldn't surprize me, that there is an increase in voilent crimes. Maybe it's a new year resolution from the skollies or there has been an increase in the recruitment of neighbouring countries unemployed skollies.

But it is a worring fact that this is happening. I think we sill see an increase into skilled people leaving the country this year.

Hmmm... got a funny feeling 2008 is going to be a very violent year of transistion in Africa.

That's the problem lionfish, there is no transition. Transition to what? Jobs and education for everybody?

Highly unlikely.

The problem with black Africa is that their leaders can't see past their own noses. The 'what's in it for me' syndrome is what rules this place and that's how it's going to be for a long time. And this attitude barely lends itself to a functional and successful society.

The facts are cold, hard and staring everyone in the face.

One of the reporters for the Pretoria news (IIRC) stated that this new year was uneventful compared to previous years.

Edit: I'd love to get more details, but I can't access international sites :p

So we all agree? 2008 will be Exceptionally violent. As if the others years was not!

pity you still have to visit a south african forum? the first world forums not first class enough

He's got friends here still, is showing interest in his home country and this forum and you ridicule him for it.

Are you trying to drive away loyal forum members?

i would not call people who berate MY country from ANOTHER country showing interest in their 'home' country.

i would call it pulpit preaching and the ever present double standards.

and i need not drive him away - he seems to do that all on his own :)

and um... loyal to a forum? heh what does he do for the forum if i may ask?

Try and bring a bit of common sense? It is sorely needed in SA.
