Our Exchanger mail server has been running smoothly until we decided to abondon dial up in favour of ADSL.I can't get the thing to run using ADSL.Does anybody know how to set up exchange 2003 to run using ADSL.its driving me crazy now. Thanks in advance.

Your question doesn't really make sense as ADSL and MS Exchange are completely unrelated. What exactly is the problem? You can't send mail? Can't receive mail? Exchange refuses to start? etc.

If you have changed ISPs and you cannot send email out anymore - it could be the SMTP Servers.

IS Based: smtp.isdsl.net
SAIX Based: smtp.saix.net

Perhaps Exchange got confused  by the change over, try this if Messages remain in "Messages pending submission":
  1. Stop the "Default SMTP Virtual Server" (Servers->MMIHSERVER01->Protocols->SMTP)
  2. If the server will not stop, stop all Exchange related services, any services that will not stop, use Task Manager to End it's Process by getting the executable name from the services' properties. Then stop the service again.
  3. Start all automatic Exchange related services
  4. Start the "Default SMTP Virtual Server" as above.

well, let me rephrase my question, but first a bit of background info.Initially we were using dail up,so mail server was configured to run using dail up.But we just changed to ADSL,so the connnector settings have to be reconfigured.I hope this make sense.Sorry if it doesn't,i'm kind of new to this too.Now the question is,how do you configure exchange server?

How is ur ADSL set-up - do you have a router? Are you using the same ISP for incoming mail as I assume they are spooling mail to you in the past (i.e. held it and sent it when you were dialled up).

The first thing to do for outgoing is ensure your connectivity is OK for browsing etc and that DNS resolution is working correctly.

Did you put a firewall in between the ADSL router and the Exchange server?

If so, then you'll need to open the correct ports.

Have you selected the correct gateway?

Open Exchange System Manager, expand Connectors, right-click on Internet mail, what do you get?

Do you have an static or dynamic IP? (We have a static IP, host our own web site, and is able to send or receive mail to and from our own IP).

Are your ISP spooling your mail? This will also work with ADSL. (I know one person whose mail is spooled somewhere else and his Exchange server pull the mail down for his users).

Guys, thanx alot for the valuable advice. Please assume limited knowledge in ur replies, this is a new territory for me.Well,i'm still struggling to fix it.The Exchange server has an private IP and there is a firewall btwn it and the ADSL router.
