I need help formulating an exercise schedule/plan etc.

I have tried on and off to go to gym to get fit and try to put on some muscles but every time I fail. I never see any difference and I'm not sure what to do and when to do it.

Can someone who is more clued up help me to achieve my goal?

I enlisted the services of a personal trainer....they know what they're doing.

I agree, you can also tell them that you'd prefer not to join a gym and they could formulate an exercise plan that specifically suits you and your needs

It takes time... Bu the time my body started to get muscular I didn't even notice... Small gradual changes over a long period

It does take time, one cannot be unrealistic an expect to see results appear overnight or even within the 1st week, unless ofcourse you are considering weight loss, but like I said a qualified personal trainer can ascertain what needs to be done and put you on the right path from there.

I tried and tried for about a month and saw no changes... That's very demotivational.

What specifically are you trying to achieve, did your eating habits change?

I want to build muscle, but not staunch bodybuilding type of muscle, just enough to look sexeh, and also I want to get fit.

I have very little body fat, so all my muscles are pretty much defined already, however I want to make them a bit bigger so I am not skinny.

well I tried for 8 months and only saw results after 12 sessions with a personal trainer...use it, don't use it.

I still reckon enlist the help of a qualified trainer, one that is going to be honest with you and one that deliver results

It varies, you could certainly try to strike up a deal with them saying that you intend to commit to x amount of sessions, but in my experience they range from R200 to R500 per hour.

Good luck

Think of it this way, R200 once a week for a month and then you could do it once a month

How much are they?

I'm with a lesser known Gym.... in Bellville, Cape Town and bargained a deal where I get 12 sessions at R40 a session... cheap cheap. You won't believe how this guy pushes me to the limit, something I would not have been able to do on my own.

That is a HUGE bargain, think it must obviously be a newly qualified personal trainer but then again you did say it is a lesser known gym, I was going on the trainers at VA

Been swimming for almost two weeks now and I'm surfing more as well. I noticed my pecs, shoulders & upper arms are already pumped up and I'm losing weight. Weird thing is once I started training I'm also eating less. Overall fitness & stamina has also improved a lot, no longer huffing & puffing :D
