Expect a 2% VAT increase

Good video with suggestions to implement Doge-ZA instead of 2% VAT:

South Africa has more that 700 SOE that do a range of things and do them badly!

South African government definition of "balancing the budget" means increasing taxes instead of less spending.

Government must spend less, cut waste, become more effective and efficient

Not much given back in terms of zero rates foods to help poor households.
But they will use some of the VAT to increase social grants and state employee salaries by more than 2%. So stop playing saviour of the poor, the poor will benefit and be unaffected by the VAT hike. It is the middle class that it hurts.

Most state employee salaries exceed their private sector counterparts - don't see why they need a +5% increase.
Middle AND lower class will be impacted as the %VAT as a ratio of income is disproportionate to lower income.
Additionally all can make use of the new zero rated VAT items like the new zero rated offal.

Eat Offal - it's good for you:

lol people bitching about 2%, still below first world averages and inline with 3rd world averages. Yes we will be paying more and it sucks, but considering how long we waited before we increased VAT initially and dwindling pool of tax payers, it was inevitable...........

A lot of countries have a tiered rate so you can't make a direct comparison. They also have lower overall rates and less types of taxes.

You speak off South Africa as the only country with corruption. I suggest you look up the corruption perception index

I don't expect a lot from someone that doesn't know what they talking about....
Most countries have corruption sure but it doesn't stop them from functioning effectively.

Let's be honest. They keep on increasing taxes yet we continue getting less value. Our budget is like 4x what it was 30 years ago inflation adjusted and things are falling apart. Every increase is gobbled up by some fat cadre without society seeing any of it and our debt burden gets worse.

We already tipped the Laffer curve and there shouldn't be any increases going forward. Indeed we should lower taxes over time and also introduce more tax breaks and incentives starting now.

@dontcryforme spill the beans.

Will VAT increase?

Don't worry, you can tell us. The HAWKS are too busy with Afriforum to go after you.
The DA did vark us over, yes. I think the VAT increase will be the recommended 0.75% if not 1%.

Think the rest of the items will remain the same.

This is just a personal opinion from whats been floating the news and social media
