So a pregnant woman goes to a doctor and gets told that she should give birth say on 05 November 2010. I know it's estimation because the baby could come before then. The baby could even come a day or so after that expected date.
But what is the "maximum" number of days after that estimated/expected date?

Labour is usually induced if its more than 2 weeks past due date
/EDIT/ although this can be done as early as 1 week past date depending on babies status

Yep.

No gynae in his right mind would ever let a pregnancy go 2 weeks over due date.

Inducing labour happens then, and its quick and easy. Don't stress, they normally come :)

I suppose she has to wait for nature to take its course.

Definitely not, careful attention must be paid after the expected due date.
As mentioned, labour is usually induced afte 1.5 - 2 weeks past the date.

Our first boy was 2 weeks overdue when they cut him out. But it's more frequent these days for babies to come before the expected date. Women are just more stressed which I think affects their deliveries.

How on earth is that ever worse than being pregnant? This is astounding; you cannot even almost compare it.

I knew this would upset you :)
I am, of course joking. But trust me when I tell you this, pregnant woman are amongst the scariest human beings ever.
They look all sweet and happy around their friends, but not at home....

If you treated her better and bothered to be in tune with her emotions .... but since you don't, then suffer ! :)

My wife is pregnant with twins and she has been absolutely incredible and no, she doesn't read these forums. She's lucky though in that she hasn't had any morning sickness and she's around 12 weeks so the chances of it happening are pretty slim. Things might change though...

in tune with her emotions....its hard to adapt to something that changes 100 times a day and defies any kind of logic....

With our son my wife had morning sickness early and with our latest edition this year she had it later. She will get it, its just the severity & frequency will differ and the time of day (ie can be also in the evening).

But good luck :)

Are these your first?
