Hi all
This is my first post. I hope it is in a relevant forum. I need help to reduce my telecoms costs.

Currently I have ADSL 512 with Telkom ISP.
costs:
  • 2*Line rental R260.82 (Two lines on ADSL?) PAY twice? is that normal?
  • DSL Faster R285.96
  • 2*Identical R8.64
  • TI 3G R209.65
  • Total R773.73
  • Total calls R400-500
    estimate

I have a separate line: Required

  • Line rental R98.60
  • Infinite-call R66.00
  • Total calls R100-150
    estimate

Why do you pay for 2 line rentals @ R260 and DSL faster? Is that all for one line?

How much of the 3GB do you use per month?

One way to reduce your costs would be to get something like Telkom's DoBroadband 1 which gets you a 384kbps ADSL line and a 1GB account, for R199.

You'd need to be quite disciplined in saving on bandwidth..

If you run out of bandwidth, you could top-up with Telkom or an ISP like WebAfrica, Axxess (who allow unused bandwidth to rollover to the next month(s)) etc. for around R70 per GB.

I used 3 gig in a few days during December and met with the dreaded cap fate for most of the month. I had to use a WebAfrica 1 gig top up.
I am now on about 4+ gig (not yet capped)

I do not want to downgrade but rather upgrade to 1024 speed with a better optimised situation.
