"The decision by the SABC to broadcast live for two hours the ANC’s final election rally, with three days to go before Election Day, while refusing to cover the Democratic Alliance in the same manner, is neither equitable nor consistent.

It is in violation of the IBAA. It is to disproportionately promote the views of the ANC and thereby to give prominence to one agenda over others.

A two hour live crossing is incomparable with a hard news story on a bulletin. In doing so, it is to promote one choice before South Africans over another which is both contrary to the SABC’s mandate and undemocratic."

They are just NOT showing it...I want to see where they REFUSE to show it. A slight difference.

There have been numerous statements claiming no bias. Can you not see the issue or have you not followed the SABC over the last 3 elections? This always comes up and is always argued. SABC should only broadcast adverts paid by the parties concerned. To broadcast ones rally over another is bias. As a "independant" reporting station, they should even take it on themselves to video the opposition rally and broadcast it.

You have a statement by the DA claiming refusal, who else would we ask about the refusal?

Ok. I was asking for proof...not saying it wasn't so.

why not ask other parties via email if the same thing happened to them ? maybe they are just to poor to actually pay a live broadcast :?

Im just guessing now not making any statements oi

back to the topic :

"For two weeks prior to the Democratic Alliance’s final election rally, our party attempted to negotiate with the SABC for live coverage. At first the SABC gave us a verbal commitment that it would cover the event live. It then reneged on that undertaking. It would give no explanation for its decision, nor would it confirm or deny whether it was covering the ANC’s final event. Last night, it confirmed that it would indeed be covering the ANC live"

Someone must have been bribed ! I have however sent them an email regarding this topic asking that this should be investigated as it is in all trueness, very unlawful.

and people actually attend crap like that...always blows my mind...I wouldn't even if they paid me.

It seems people are waking up to the ANC bs.

The stadium wasn't even full! In the 2009 election when the ANC had the same rally the stadium was overcrowded by 25%, but today there were still a lot of open spaces.

ANC [-]idiots[/-] supporters that were there cheered quite loudly for Malema. Zuma and Malema got the biggest cheer from the crowd.

They don't actually have to refuse, they just have to cover all parties equitable and fairly.
This they have obviously not done. Hence the accusation of bias.
