Hi All,

wondering if anyone has experienced what i have, recently installed the new DISH and Explora etc etc from bligstaltion... they setup all, show signal strength and quality all good etc..

this was done beginning of DEC.... so all been going well, watched TV yesterday until 9am... then we left came back about 7pm wanted to watch something on my explora... (main decoder) black screen... check the secondary decoder... after a while displays TV 100% all channels... right goto explora... menu so so so slow, takes a second to goto settings then another one or two seconds to goto General information etc... then i thought maybe something wonky... proceed to do the power cycle... rebooted decoder... same K@K blank screen... check my signal strength and its at 82% Quality at 96 to 100 % so im thinking this should be ok... not so ?

anyway after 2 reboots... no luck... other decoder showing perfect kids watching Cartoons... cool... phone call centre last night... get through and begin troubleshooting... same things i did *sigh* anyway then she wants me to change RF cables around on explora switch... im like why ? she cant say why... probably following procedure on a list etc... anyway... i tell her about my signal strength and she tells me no should be over 90% for explora... been reading on DSTV forum and here and they say its ok even if it has 75% and above...

anyway check early this morning... signal on 83% and my viewing is back WTF #@@!! i can watch TV again... but last night i couldn't...

What should the signal strength be and would bad weather cause this ? cause we did have lotsa clouds yesterday etc... and or is my explora starting to give in... which is not even a month old... and in order for me to test this i need to go all the way to Randburg for a test on the decoder... but this morning it was fine... so not sure now...

anyone else experience this ?

I have been having serious issues with my Extraview. Am getting the E16-4 and E76 error messages every 3 hours or so and it comes right after I reset it on the DSTv.com web site. Very frustrating.

I get the E16-4 error code on the Explora as well. At least once a day. Also comes right after a reset on DSTv.com.

Shew ok... so some issues occurring then... i get that e 76 on my second pvr when they confirm status of subscription etc but after 3 min its back on... only if i reboot the second pvr

I will try a rescan now that its displaying TV and see what i get, i heard that a re-scan helps but concerned about this as if it starts like this.. what will it end up becoming ......

What is your signal strength and quality on Tuner 3 on Explora?
What size dish do you have?
Sounds like your installation is not perfect
Also where you based?

Tuner 3 is for data and authentication, I assume you using a Dual LNB with Explora switch.
It is also possible the lightning has damaged the Explora switch.
The decoder needs an auth token every few hours from the sat and if it doesn't get it, you get the E errors. This is typically related to installation.

ok makes sense now... yes I'm using a dual LNB connects into the switch and also other HB cable etc... switch shows blue light etc... if it did get hit would it still have displayed anything ? i haven't had any issues with lightning before... but i will need to confirm then... as for the E errors i don't get many of them only if i reboot the second PVR then it shows that E message and says confirming subscription etc...

I will check later this afternoon for tuner 3 status... and see what it shows... and revert here... hoping its quiet at work then can leave earlier... ;-)

thanks for the feedback you surely know what you talking about... do you work with this stuff... or had same issues ?

I'm also in Alberton, does anybody know of a good installer who knows how to do all of this right?
Hi-Lite Radio want R1500 to do the installation. That seems a bit steep to me?
I want to have it done right, but I know not all installers are on the ball.

We have the old SD PVR I Unit (DVR3000) and the new Explora unit.
We do have Twin LNB and our signal strength is good 90%+.

Why not do it yourself? I had the same.

Cables from LNB into multiswitch (provided).
Cables from SD PVR into multiswitch.
Cable from Explora to multiswitch.
Cable from Explora to TV.
Cable from SD PVR to other TVs (except the main one).

Once connected, you can only view Channel 100 off the Expla - phone MC and activate. Then activate Extraview.

I think that's the going rate hey... i got mine through the Makro deal through blingstalltion they came and did mine... also valued at 1500... and i still had to pay in for extra cable...

who is decent these days... seems like they just do it for the money...etc.... there are also individuals that do this i think you can search on DSTV.com site for accredited installers.. has all there details and what regions they support.

I had my HDPVR2U installed professionally then got my self an Explora. Installed the Explora myself as well as setup XtraView. If I can do it myself trust me so can you.

Came home switched Decoder on and tv showing not blank as it did before... So yeah... Not sure what else to say... Response on menu and checking info and browsing through box office perfect no lagging etc....
