Semantics,how much of the country does he control these days?Anyway my point is he can't control Syria if there is to be lasting peace .There has to be somebody else.Most groups will no longer ever put up with him for as long as they did in the past.

perhaps an example of "Taqiyya" would clear up some things .

Quran (3:28) - This verse tells Muslims not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to "guard themselves" against danger, meaning that there are times when a Muslim should appear friendly to non-Muslims, even though they should not feel that way..
