A clearing agent can clear it based on any value, we just don't want to bear the risk.

I said if its a 20k (or below ) valued shipment, consignee doesn't need his own importer code for customs release. The agent can use theirs. capish ?

Under R50 000.00 the exporter could utilize the general code of 70707070.

Under no circumstances would a clearing agent want to use their own code on behalf of another party. Note I said "We"... I think I know the rules

OK, perhaps things have changed the past few years on this topic, but i must backtrack to see which agent told me they can easily do this as long as its max R20k in value.

Not 100% sure what you mean by they used to allow it and now don't?

Value ranges, anything from a few rand, to a few thousand rand.

As in they change the rules … but I still want to check which agent who told me anything capped at R20k, they will use their code on behalf of the client.
