I got a coolermaster case with a sata ii 1tb seagate 7200.12. it is only a month old. it suddenly started giving problems, where it would just disconnect on its own, then win 7 or vista would say the drive would need to be formatted. then i just plug it in again and then it works again. it just randomly disconnects even while watching stuff. then reconnects and searchhes for content. why does it just disconnect and why did it suddenly start doing that ?

take the hdd out of its case and put it directly into your pc, if it does the same send it back for replacement. If it doesn't then you ext. enclosure is acting up or your usb

mm ok thats gonna be a tough squeeze.. better not but where there's a will there's a way

it turns out there is. not sure why, but after 5 days of leaving my pc off, it just booted up. i first booted in safe mode then booted into normal mode. so my pc seems to be working, it hasnt frozen yet. so will see if hdd is working
