How did you know I was also looking at doing this.

I'm not sure if motorite offer service or maintenance plan I know the offer warranty plan. You can try them also.

Which ever company you choose check hellopeter and facebook page for complaints.

The Car Manufacturer will offer the best value with an extended plan compared to third-party companies, I advise getting a quote from Kia as well.

Read the terms and conditions in your contract of the third-party companies carefully.

Get a quotation for one of these plans.

Then take the money and put it in a separate bank account or short term fixed deposit.

Use it as required and use a specialist but third party mechanic and save a fortune.

The money will go much further for longer without silly kilometre and time limitations.

At 24000km that car is going to do another 75000-100000km before it costs any real money and makes up for the service plan which will have long since expired.

I realise that and that is why i was basicly thinking a service plan to pay for the anual services as required as my manufactures warantee of 5 years or 100 000 Km only expires end of 2018 and the ordinary service with Kia cost atound R3000. and the contract states while under warantee all services has to be done by Kia.

That’s a lot of money to be paying out for a warranty that lasts another year...and that’s if something goes wrong.

Services shouldn’t be more than R1500 for regular items excluding brakes and suspension which really shouldn’t be needing replacement at such low mileage.

Would love to see what they sharked you that much for.

Also bear in mind a service plan doesn’t cover brakes and suspension so you’ll pay that out of pocket as well.

Food for thought... my clutch (ix35) packed in yesterday. It's out of plan. Parts alone by Hyundai are R60K. I am hoping my mechanic can source a better price elsewhere. I have looked after my car, maintained its services, driven it with respect, etc. Just didn't think that among would come on this exorbitant. @ R60K this is about a third of its retail value :(

A service plan is great. Just don't forget that some motor manufacturers will fleece you on the cost of parts.

We've got a motorite service plan on the up, haven't had any problems yet. Just book the car in, and then fetch it after the service.

Which wouldn't have been covered by a service plan.

And I'm sure it will be less than a 1/3rd of that at the non-dealer.

Nope. Which is why I don't do just a service plan. Maintenance plan is the way to go.

I am looking at something like this at the moment. Paying the price through the dealership is not happening. As my mechanic said, he wouldn't let me pay that.
