Extended motor service plan

question. I have done some reading on the motor plans. most have a limit to the amount of km the cars are allowed to have. what happens when car goes over that limit? plan auto cancel or will they continue to cover you? in other words is this limit only to new signup?

Food for thought... my clutch (ix35) packed in yesterday. It's out of plan. Parts alone by Hyundai are R60K. I am hoping my mechanic can source a better price elsewhere. I have looked after my car, maintained its services, driven it with respect, etc. Just didn't think that among would come on this exorbitant. @ R60K this is about a third of its retail value

A service plan is great. Just don't forget that some motor manufacturers will fleece you on the cost of parts.

I can recommend you get a quote from RDG (Rex Diff and Gearbox) ... in Boksburg iirc. They replaced the clutch on my old Hyundai Atos for only R5 000 (and that was picked up by an aftermarket warranty I had for that car).

Just what I am looking at. The dealership price is daylight robbery. Exactly what dealerships do, I am afraid. It's going to take a while longer to repair, but it's worth the inconvenience.

I bought a Chrysler grand voyager demo model in 2013- it was about 6 months old with 4000kms on the clock
It came with a 3yr/100 000km maintenance plan - I extended when I bought it for around 20k to 5yr/100 000 as I don't use the car all that much.
The motor plan is expiring in September and the car has 63000km- the dealer has offered me a further maintenance plan
5 year/ to 100 000 km - 30k
5 year/ to 120 000 km -36k

Thought I wasn't a bad deal and should go for it.

Something doesn't sound right there, it has a 5y/100k km plan on, with 63k km, 2013 model, should still be active up to 2018 on time? Plus they want to charge R30k to add what seems like nothing as you already have 5y/100k km?

Perhaps I was a bit unclear
It was a demo model bought in 2013, but the car was registered late 2012
So the original motor plan expires towards the end of this year

They are adding another 5 years
Distance from current mileage to 100 000/120 000km etc.

They never offered me that, I wonder why.

BUT ... I worked it out .. I don't do more than 8000km per year. So the next service which was 100 000km , I paid a little over R6k. The next service (120 000km) is a big one, cost is around R25k, and I will only get to that point in say 3 years ( 100 000km service done in April 2016, mileage right now is 109 000km).

My one is a Diesel, yours ?
