I just bought an External Antenna for the Datacard....
(From MTN in Menlyn, Pta - even though they took a couple of minutes to 1. figure out what it was, and 2. whether they really have it)

How much of a difference in reception should i be expecting with the aerial in?

Before i had the antenna, i had about 0-1 bars (with downloading speeds of up to 176kbps!

I put the antenna in, and my reception now seems to stay around 1bar in the F@stlink Dashboard.

I'm just wondering if it was really worth it...

Atmosphere,

My experiences with the extrenal antennas on the Vodacom network has been that even though the signal appears to remain the same, the stability and speed of the connection improves - presumably due to an improved uplink signal (from your card to the tower).

I have a Vodacom Sim in my MTN Data Card. My get 3G/HSDPA at one bar. Sometimes the connection drops then I get GPRS/EDGE full bars.

Will I get 3G/HSDPA when I use the antenna without dropping to GRPS/EDGE??

More than likely as the antenna boosts by 2db, which you would more than likely not notice on the signal but might notice on the connection.
