External hard drive

A similar thing happens with my external hard drive. It works great on 2/6 of the USB ports on my desktop and doesn't work at all on laptop.

512GB seagate with cooler master casing.

These external drives are sometimes picky for no good reason.

I posted a thread about my own trials and tribulations with an eSATA based external enclosure about a week or so back.

Try what AdLo said, that shoud get the drive sorted. I only became aware of this once I started playing with adding hard drives onto a previous running system. I knew about initialising a disk but forgot about it since I rarely need to add new drives. :o

Hope you've got the problem sorted out now.

Right click in Disk Management on the drive and there should be an initialize option. After that right click and format, assign drive letter if necessary and you're ready to go.

what he said.
