hi all

ive got 2 x 1TB WD Black Editions, and thats all good. My system drive is a Supertalent SSD which also is serving my needs quite nicely. I dont wanna stack my PC with anymore drives, so I have decided to go the external storage option.

Since being able to access HD and BluRay content, I need MOOOORE storage. I dont need super fast access like a Black Edition, so I was thinking of going the route of the WD Green which spins at a casual 5400 rpm. Does anyone have anything to say about these drives?

I was thinking of getting one of these

and eventually filling it with 4 x 1TB WD green edition drives.

any alternative suggestions, thoughts or comments please?

cheers

2TB's are around, by end July, you will have 3TB's, if you care to wait - then put in 4 x 4TB, should keep you happy for long while.

Enclosures do not always support the latest drives though, be sure to double check the max capacity that the enclosure can handle. Otherwise build a cheapy pc, fill it up with drives and stick it on the network.

+1 to that, it's what I've done.

You can always check the documentation to see if your specific drive is supported.

ok so I did some research and this enclosure supports up to 4 x 1TB drives, and I also confirmed that my marvell chipset does have a port multiplier (I think)

plugged it in, and it doesnt pick up the second drive in the encloseure. Granted its A black edition 1TB and not a Green edition 1TB but shouldnt matter! It only picks up the drive in the 1st slot...

Now Im screwed, anyone have any advice please?
