So I loaded R500 airtime, got 1500MB data. That was the expected part. But then I buy a 50GB bundle through *147# and got this sms "Airtime Debited 50GB 6 Month Once-Off has been successfully loaded on your account. You have been loaded with 50GB data + free 50GB nite data valid for 180 days!"

Well I can't see any night data on my account. Is this an error or is there supposed to be night data included from now on. First time I've heard of it.

Thanks. I don't care about the night data if it's not supposed to be. But why send the sms? And if it is then is it now a regular thing?

The conversations don't seem to allow uploading images for some reason.

Hi Swa

Are you trying to send messages via the router's online device manager?

^MP
Hi,
I tried uploading the image through our conversation thread but it didn't want to allow uploading images and only urls.

What I did was load the R500 airtime and bundle through my phone as the Huawei router software can't do USSD. I then removed the sim from my phone and when I inserted it into the router I got the sms mentioning the night data.

I loaded it yesterday and it was 50+ 50gb so mustbe an error if yours is not loaded.

Then I don't have it. Maybe because I used the USSD menu. I assume you all used the website?

I used the USSD menu to buy. Loaded R500 airtime and dialled *147# to buy the bundle. I use it in my phone anyways not using a router.

Then there must be an error, as even the SMS mentioned the night data.

Did you get this issue sorted out already?
Not yet. Did get a missed call early in the morning when I wasn't available. Been quite a hectic week so will see in time.

So apparently this was only from 27 Nov - 6 Dec even though I got the sms and it's still listed on the Cell C website. Why I couldn't have been told this outright I don't know instead it's a big rigmarole to try to get something you missed by 90 minutes. I also don't know why Cell C can't have a permanent night data offer, not like it would cost them anything.

It's because of things like this that I'll be moving to Telkom from next year where I can get 30+30GB for R199 and it's only set to get cheaper.

To be honest I think I made a big mistake to change from Telkom to Cellc. I ported my number to Cellc as they now basically just use MTN. Coverage has increased significantly and Cellc offers similar coverage to MTN now. I noticed this when I traveled from Centurion to the North Coast. Very good coverage and LTE+ most of the times. That with the 50GB for 6 months bundle that actually works and wifi calling it's the best solution or so I thought.

They get 3 carrier aggregation just like on MTN but something is not right. The speeds are not the same. MTN in a S8 right next to my S10 on the same tower and same LTE bands just one with Cellc and another with MTN the MTN sim smokes the Cellc connection in terms of speed and latency.

Cellc being Cellc routes all traffic to JHB first no matter where you are not ideal if you are anywhere that is not Gauteng or surrounds.

Telkom has pretty decent speeds especially if you have Telkom coverage with a device that supports all the Telkom LTE bands the connection is top notch.

I think when my Cellc bundle is finished I might port out again. Cellc does offer really good value for money with the R199 - 900min any net bundle and R500 - 50GB bundle so I will have to see what options I have in that regard.

Well I have never really had a problem with service. Whenever the Cell C tower is down there's Vodacom fallback. For me it's mostly how they've become anti competitive. I mean why cancel the 50+150GB bundle and then have no night data option where all other operators have it. A promo and one that isn't even done and communicated correctly doesn't cut it for me. If there was some competition going on Cell C would have at least 50+150GB for R500 by now. This is just the last straw for me and not the main reason. I might get a Rain R50/GB sim for backup when I move.
