Extra screen and other windows

I have a Win10 laptop with a second screen connected via HDMI. Desktop is extended.

Sometimes when I lock my laptop, all the screens/ apps I have open on the extra screen moves over to the laptop screen. Then I have to manually move all the ones I want back over to the extra screen.

This only happens some of the time and not all the time.

Is there a setting I can change/ set to stop this from happening?

Sounds like the second screen is turning off/disconnecting from the laptop? They'd all end up on the primary monitor when you do so.

Check if your laptop goes to sleep, disable it or extend the time.

What you can also do is check the sleep time and test when it is sleeping and when its not. If it moves when it comes out of sleep then you know its the sleep setting.
