I have read a couple of posts on different sites and surmised that I can connect extra view without a heartbeat cable.

I tried it, but it does not work. Below is my setup. Please assist me to get it right.
Explora 1 + HD single View model 4u + SLNB + Diplexer splitter
Cable 1 goes from explora to SLNB – LNB in port
Cable 2 goes from explora – RF in port – to diplexer and then to SLNB
Cable 3 goes from SLNB to HD 4u

Some channels came on for a while, but then came a message that there’s no communication from the master decoder.

I would rip it all out, throw it in the rubbish bin, and save the R900 per month...

and stream instead..

You need a diplexer at each decoder.....Explora diplexer to lnb in and RF out.4U decoder diplexer to lnb in and RF out.
I've done it and it works

Barrels

So I still need to run 2 cables to the LNB from each decoder ?
Seems almost pointless. Might as well just run the heartbeat cable.

Thanks for the help.

No the diplexer has 1 inlet from lnb and 2 outlets...1 to lnb in and 1 to rf out.So 1 cable to each diplexer from slnb

Thanks for the pic Slayer. On D2 it must also be RF out.I originally had it in RF in but would not communicate and on advice from Monochoice used RF out and worked.

Good evening Gentlemen.
I have just done what B@rrels has said, D1(explora 2a) is viewing everything: D2 (hdpvr) is only viewing ch:100. And if i try to view any other channel it says " waiting for communication from primary".
Can someone advise on the settings.
Thank you.

Hi guys. I have the same problem.

Hi, did you perhaps find a solution yet? I have the same problem.

No solution yet...but what i think is that the lnb (explora2 side) is not good. Why because i have 100% both signals on D2, and a fluctuation between zero and 36% all the time on explora2....Unless someone can assist us. But explora2 is viewing like that and I've switched off D2 for now.

Hi guys I have a slightly different scenario and please can someone come to my aid. I have two decoders (4u and 5u). How do I connect them in extra view using a twin LNB and a diplever? If ever that will be possible or I need a SLNB and one diplexer on the 4uand. Plz help Guyz

Heeeeelp????!!!

Can anybody maybe draw a picture or send me the "how to" on connecting explora and 2 model 5s decoders in extraview as I was shocked to find thay the new decoders doesnt have rf ports like the 4u decoders we previously had. Ive read about tje diplexer but if anybody can just help and explain to me how it should be done it will be of great help thanks.

Hi 2 u all.i am new to this forum and need yo help.i have explora 2 linked to 4u decoder in xtraview.on explora 2 under xtraview environment it's showing that heartbeat is been send out but 4u decoder shows that its ready but inactive.diplever has been used on cable from smart lnb (universal port) for 4u and outputs connected to RF in and LNB in.can view channel 100 only.

Hi, I trust that you've all sorted out your issues by this time. Its important to note that the 2a, 3a, 5s and all slnbs have built in diplexers. So single line systems involving the equipment list above is possible without a heartbeat cable is possible in a star type topology. Imagine the smart lnb as the centre of the star. Once this is done you'd need to edit the userband frequencies and indexes so that the bands dont conflict. The wizard makes this a simple process. The star type configuration can work with all decodef if you have a smart lnb. The key is to combine the rf and lnb of the older model decoders at the decoder ends and then running the single resulting line straight to the smart lnb. Then of course you need to edit the userband frequencies again so thay theres no conflict. As of a recent OTA update, certain 5s and 5u decoders dont work on unicable anymore and this prrsents an added challenge. Contact me at here if you need anymore help.
