Eyeball tattoos are a growing trend in contemporary tattooing and are one of the most extreme tattoos out there!!

Eyeball tattoos are as hardcore as they sound, permanently changing the sclera (white of your eye) to another color is a bold choice and one there’s no going back from. Surprisingly such an extreme body modification is becoming increasingly popular and more and more people are tattooing their eyeballs!!

Tattooing your eyeballs involves ink/pigment being injected into the eye where it then spreads across the sclera, coloring the white of the eye in the process. Although it is not without its risks, many experts and eye specials oppose eyeball tattoos warning that inking your eye can lead to blindness and cancer!!

As painful as the thought of an eyeball tattoo may be the process is said to be pain free, but nonetheless terrifying.

I think it looks nice. But there is no way I'll ever do it

I'm tattoo-free because if I'd had to have a tattoo in primary school (up to the beginning of grade 6), it would have been something religious or cartooney. In high school, it would have been something satanic, occult, whatever (talk to the hand), in my twenties it would have been drug-related, in my thirties.... you get the picture.

I don't want anything permanent because I'm not sure that I will feel the same in 5, 10, 20 years from now.

I had my first (and only so far) at age 37. I'm pretty sure you figured how you feel by then. ;)

Only reason I don't have a tattoo is cause I'm super scared of needles... and the tattoo I want costs a lot :p

Article doesn't mention anything about changing the colour of your irises. If that is a possibility, I'd totally have that done and get central hetereochromia done. Probably go for storm grey and blue ring.

This is different.
I have an insane fear of needles after going through chemo, etc - blowing veins, being constantly poked and prodded - I was even sedated once or twice because of hysteria, but, since treatment, I've had 10 tattoos and they have been a breeze in comparison.

No tattoo's for me thanks.. (not anywhere)

I don't like (nor love) any amount of pain.

Bringing the tattoo or any needles close to my eyes (Example.. is like those stuff you see in the movies with an injection needle and someone's eyeball...) - Even the thought of it .. is horrific.

Diamonds in your eyes... hmmm. With the thieves here in south Africa.....

You'll just hear .. scoop scoop and you won't see your money again ever...

Some of them look quite cool, others not so much.

Biggest issue for me is that this is still quite a new process - and no one really knows what the long-term effects will be.
