Wouldn't surprise me if that statement of yours is true @Oupa. Still a good race for me though, loved the strategies and tactics. My team got 1-3, not bad. Pity for Kovi though. His time will come.

In the post race interviews, he said it did not bother him all that much, hell he set the fastest lap closer to the end of the race when he was chasing Hamilton down.

Yeah, I feel Kovi could have done very well and even outclassed hamilton if it weren't for that extra stop he needed to do.

But since the beginning of this session I've always thought that if you want to win you have to be in the top 6, the rest of the field tends to get very messy at the first corner. Unlucky for Kov though.
 
Hamilton drove well considering three stops, but again, Ferrari vs McLaren is about high speed tracks vs more corners... McLaren and McLaren drivers do better in the latter - next 2 races should show this.

brad explain to me though, how did hamilton not get pole with such a lighter car?
 
Killadoob, I (personally) think it relates to tyre choice. Heiki was fast on the softs during quali, Hami not so fast on the hards. When race day came, the track changed and it looked to me like it suited the hards more. It's was a gamble either way I suppose
 
yea i know hamilton did a 3 stop because he didnt want a long stint on the soft tyres, so he did a 3 stop so that most of his race was on hard

the next 2 races should be interesting as mclaren will be very strong

He went with the three stops strategy becuase of tyre concerns, and not going light on fuel to secure the pole. I mean what he did is quite remarkable really, to be just a tenth of pole, when the people in front of you were all on the softer and faster tyre.

he was alot lighter and i still think massa put in a remarkable lap and not hammi
 
+1 Killadoob. Hami's car was at least 3-6 tenths lighter because of his fuel loads. He should've been on pole by at least half a second at best.
 
Hehe, Schumi would have won with that strategy quite nicely me thinks.

Man , I miss him! He at least made the races interesting, F1 is nowadays the best sleeping pill 4 me.
 
actually i stopped watching f1 because of shummi

great driver but to dominant

alonso got me back in f1 by spicing up the shummi walks the championship every year trend
 
Schummi got too many favours he didn't actually need...
I still think given Hamilton is in year two in F1, he is the best there is atm... (all things considered)...

Kimi, Alonso and Lewis are the best drivers on the grid atm, IMO. The rest are good, but not as talented.

As for Massa, nearly all the tracks he has won at, are now gone, look for him to fade away from the championship, and win the last GP (Brazil).

Cos the Ferrari's are quicker, or haven't you been watching the speed traps? They are almost 10kph faster on the straights. It's about the track - high speed tracks will always favour Ferrari/BMW or even Toyota as their top speed has been pretty impressive... cornering and braking is the McLaren strength.
No matter how long you spend on refuelling and tyres, a pit stop takes out a minimum of x seconds of your time - just to get in and out - so it's quite a feat to stop 3 times and still improve your position at the front.

Next couple of races will show how much the car is to Ferrari drivers.
