F1 2011 thread

F1 in HD would make me go out and get that HD PVR at long last, that's for sure!

I'm hoping to make 2012 the first year where I actually manage t watch every race - it had better be a good season! :)

(yes; yet another empty I-want-an-iPad post)

It is in hd bud.

A bit off topic, but have you guys seen the Senna documentary released last year? If not, I highly recommend it.

Trailer below:

Forget the past, look to a bigger version for road going cars. The aerodynamics must be awesome in that. I'm sure it must have some sort of anti-glare properties. The other safety aspect is what if your tech that opens the canopy fails and you're on fire, or the breathing aparatus fails... eish...

That said, it's about pros vs cons.

The helmets of today would probably have saved Senna. Look at Massa's crash. From what I gathered the canopy test is for bigger things like tires or other cars landing on top of a driver.

Its because of incidents like Senna that they have evolved the helmet. It was Niki Lauda that started all the safety in F1, elsr there would have been much more deaths in motor racing

FP1 about to start. It's cloudy & cold, intermittent rain predicted for the whole weekend - should make for an exciting qualifying & race!

Go Schumi Schumi, go Schumi Schumi !

Ferrari are looking very good, showing that Alonso's win wasn't just down to the off-throttle diffuser ban at Silverstone.

Mclaren are looking strangely off the pace though, and I heard all sorts of rumours that Whitmarsh might be on his way out.

Practice 1 & Practice 2 never amount to much in terms of speed. Tomorrow's practise and Quali is where its at.

Well they brought updates to that race as well. Redbull lookws pretty good even with the ban, if anything that ban affected mclaren something horrible. Redbull still seemed fine, qualified well and race day they looked average. Pretty much as it has been all season. with ban being moved to 2012 mclaren should find some pace this weekend.

I hope they get their act together although with alonso around he should give them a go if mclaren fail to bring it :D. Come on alonso we want a tight championship. Vettel must crash or break down.

McLaren's whole car was based on their exhaust, it stands to reason they lost the most. So much for everyone thinking they were responsible for the ban. I believe Williams was the main instigator in getting it banned. But they brought them back - when is the first race with the return of the blown diffuser? I think they might be sticking to the one run just before Silverstone.
