F1 2011 thread

Naaa normally he has a fat smile on his face, thanking the team and what not. He almost looked like he was scared of saying the wrong thing. I have a feeling things are not so rosy between the ham and mclaren. I will be very surprised if sees out his contract with them next year which he should because they are the reason he is in F1, supported him big time and i hope he shows the same level of support.

Vettel will make a come back, he cannot dominate every race.

Awesome stuff, vettel must have had some issue to be so slow.

Let's hope this continues so the championship can close up. Hamilton looking like old ham again, although his interview did not seem like a happy one. You would think after driving the race of your career you would look happy :p

Did you not hear him screaming like a girl over the team radio at the end of the race?? And what about the part where he jumped over the railing to greet his team mates and fans??

Maybe Ron Dennis was there to sort things out. He doesny usually attend races nowadays.

Exciting from start to finish!!
Two things I would love to see implemented next season:
1. DRS i.e adjustable rear-wing should be a permanent feature, meaning it should open and close automatically, like how we see on the (old?) porsche 911 - wing "opens" at above 80kph, and closes when you drop below that speed. DRS in only designated area, and only available to the car behind is a messy way of doing things.

2. PICTURE-IN-PICTURE:
Can't understand why we can't have split screen views of live race vs pit action. Even Nascar and other motosports have been using this for years.. but the FIA is yet to cotton on. Imagine an onboard from alonso's ferrari leaving the pits after his last stop, side-by-side with one of hamilton approaching the first corner. and sticking with them all the way round that first corner. Then switching to an aerial replay of that overtake, whilst having a smaller pic-in-pic of the live action. Would be awesome!

PS. If anybody knows of a site that will make this suggestion heard, please direct them to this thread:)

I did but i have also watched every interview for the last few seasons and the ham looks a bit out of sorts, maybe i am reading it wrong and i hope so for mclaren anyhow, hamilton is not a driver you can replace easily.

Let's hope though that ferrari and mclaren continue to keep up because it could be the most exciting second half of a f1 season ever :D. Even better than last year.

Good race - it would have been even better if Vettel was also racing :)

He's starting to remind me of Schumacher - he needs the best car to win, and even then he only overtakes during pit stops and not on the track. At least Schumi these days is more of a racer than he was before
Schumacher made Ferrari into a dominant team, and the only time they really dominated a championship was in 2002. The rest was contended for most of the season. And as for his first 2 titles, he had to ran Hill of the track to win the first. Tried the same with Jacques Villeneuve in 1997 but failed on got DQ'ed.

And as for Vettel that Torro Rosso must be a champ of a car to have won him his first race in the Italian GP. ;) This taken from wikipeadia "In the Brazilian Grand Prix, after running second for much of the race on a one-stop strategy, Vettel overtook Lewis Hamilton in the rain for fifth place on the penultimate lap to contribute to a thrilling climax to the season. He nearly deprived the McLaren driver of the championship before Timo Glock slowed dramatically on the last lap (he was struggling with dry tyres in the ever increasing rain) enabling both Vettel and Hamilton to pass him, earning Hamilton the title, and Vettel fourth place."

Lets not forget Vettel is still young and leading the Championship with a big margin can't be an easy thing. Last year he secured the Drivers championship in the last 2 race's and he wasn't a favourite. This year he went from the underdog to the man to beat, combined with all the off track politics and his relative inexperience must put load of pressure on him. Hamilton's first few sessions was marked by lots Rookie mistakes, running into a gravel pit to cost him the title in 2007 being one.

People forget what shummi did in crap cars. People also forget about vettel's first season with torro rosso.

Take a wild guess.

According to wiki Shum are the descendants of King Wu of the Zhou dynasty, named so after an area during the Zhou dynasty (1122-221BC), so... a small Cantonese man?
