Well, if it is in his contract he should not carry the blame. If my memory serves me well, Webber kept his accident a "secret" for while? Not sure... Sadly Kubica is not in a similar position.
 
Today, Robert’s general condition has once again improved. According to the doctors, the levels of inflammation are in the norm considering his medical condition, and the recovery of his forearm remains encouraging.

Yesterday, Robert was able to talk to his doctors and relatives. His medication makes him sleep quite a lot, but he is responding to all external stimulation. He has reacted well to the news about his condition and is ready to fight for his comeback.

On Thursday, Robert should undergo some more surgery in order to stabilise the fractures to his right shoulder and right foot. Three or four days later, another operation will allow his elbow fracture to be stabilised as well.

Robert will remain at the Santa Corona Hospital for two to three weeks. A decision will then be taken about where he should go in order to continue his rehabilitation.

Looking positive, I must say, but a long road to full recovery.
 
These teams pay these guys millions so mountain biking should be a problem in my opinion. He breaks something you fork out the cash and lose a driver.

You don't see soccer players playing in rugby games or something that could injure them do you? No because they get paid to play soccer. Drive for f1 or F off and go rally would be my sentiment if i was in charge of renault. If it is in the contract well then freak accident.

So we can expect renault to chill at the back end of the field for the few races i guess.

Apparently he has clauses written into his contract that allows him to go rallying thus LRGP were fully aware of the risks. Can't see that happening at some of the other stuffy teams, say McLaren?
 
Formula 1 teams came together at the Jerez test this morning to publicly wish Robert Kubica a speedy recovery - as the Renault driver continues to make good progress in hospital.

As F1 teams got back into action for the second pre-season test, every car present displayed a Polish 'Szybkiego powrotu do zdrowia Robert' message on its car.

The phrase means: "Get well soon Robert."

The Formula One Teams' Association - FOTA- has also displayed the message on its official website.

The show of support for Kubica, who could be out for the entire season as a result of the serious injuries he picked up in his rally crash at the weekend, comes amid more positive news from the Santa Corona hospital where he is currently staying.

Kubica has left the intensive care unit and has been moved to the normal ward following another good night He is now scheduled to undergo surgery to his foot and humerus tomorrow morning, before having an elbow operation on Monday. The operations are expected to last around four hours each.

After that, Kubica will return to the intensive care unit for post-surgery course.

Italian media reports that, if all goes well, the Renault driver could be discharged from hospital as early as the end of next week.

THB I think he's just not made of anywhere near the same stuff that his namesake was. Besides, they had to go with the experience of Heidveld, no question, so it was a no brainer, really.
 
Senna was always an outside bet. He needs to impress in the role of 3rd driver for a year or two and then he might get another shot. Pity though, a yellow helmet in a black and gold car would've piqued the interest of many an older F1 fan.
 
I agree with everybody about Senna. I think its a pity in that a famous name in a famous car would have been good for the sport in general. But I agree that he doesn't seem to have what ever it was (let's call it magic ;) ) that his uncle had.

I think that Heidveld is the better driver, and the safer bet.
 
What makes you think he is nothing like his uncle? Because he could not win in a car 8 seconds slower than the fastest and 2 seconds off the second slowest?

You could be the most insane f1 driver ever created and not have done well. They Fked up giving heidfeld this drive, the guy has done F all to deserve it and senna should have got a chance.

Cannot believe they picked heid**** is all honesty. What a waste. Go for experience? Do you think mclaren went for experience when they took on hamilton? Fking idiots now i must watch heidveld again :(. Use before will be just as useless now.

I reckon driving the crappest f1 in car in f1 for a year is plenty experience.
 
F1 CHIEF PROMISES SWIFT BAHRAIN CALL
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed a decision on whether the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix goes ahead will be made next week.

The penultimate pre-season Formula One test session begins today in Barcelona, albeit under a cloud given the uncertainty over the Bahrain race.

Ecclestone is buying himself and the sport a few days' grace to see if the political unrest and bloodshed which has marred the last few days in the island kingdom escalates further or eases.

Ecclestone told Press Association Sport: "It's not good is it?

"We'll have to keep our eye on things and make a decision quickly.

"They're monitoring exactly what is going on. Next week we will make a decision on what we are going to do."

Ecclestone has further confirmed that if the situation shows no signs of quietening down by next Wednesday then the race will be cancelled.

The name Senna leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
 
Hamilton's raw talent was much more apparent when whilst in GP2 compared to Senna, and if you followed the GP2 seasons I am sure you would agree.

If he had been better, now doubt he would have landed the seat in McLaren and Hamilton would have been elsewhere.

I am not comparing him to hamilton but hamilton was groomed by mclaren to drive for the team, my point was he was raw to f1 with no experience and got the drive while senna drove a crap car for a year and has been left out for heidvled who i think we can all agree is not really that good? So why not go with youth like mclaran did instead they choose an experienced mediocre driver. Experience means F all when you are mediocre in my opinion.

Waste of a f1 seat in my opinion. So many other talented drivers who could have been given the nod ahead of heidveld.
 
I take your point, and yes on the Hamilton/McLaren thing, just my point was that Senna never really excelled in GP2 like some others (including Hamilton) so it follows that he may well not land the best seats in F1, and thus was also overlooked by LRGP. Heidveld not the best, agreed, but their choices were limited so late.
